Well then.
I ended up buying The expansion pack for Pillars of Eternity, this was my main purchase this sale, the one that I had planned ahead of time to get. Then I got bitten by the metroidvania bug, a vamptroid? So I had a rummage through the steam inventory and got: Sundered, Salt and Sanctuarey and Apotheon.
At this point steam’s sales tactics started working their magic on me and I started looking at maybe pushing the sales up to the limit of just that one more card, so I threw The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky on the pile as well.
But then Gremlins inc had also been on my wishlist for some time now and with talking about boardgames here and the discounted package with 100% orange juice it I just ended up having to get it. Now I’m just hoping to find someone to play it with.

Sold all the cards I got during the sale and grabbed myself Fez (0.99 €) and The Swapper (2.09 €). Free games woot

True, but point tho that some cards are worth more and some cards are cheep to buy. (sell the expensive once and buy the cheep once) But the trade 1:1 would ofc be the best solution. Usally badges with more than 8-12 cards I tend to sell because I never gonna be able to get all the cards since you only get 4-6 cards.
I still have not checked STM, but that only deals with duplicates?
yea stm usually only do duplicates, or whatever 1:1 same set trade you desire (doesn’t have to be duplicate, just not often much point in not swapping dupes if going for badge ofc)
sometimes a few might have a profile note with cross-set trades or something, as long as it wasn’t a “value” loss trade (tho recently most seem to have turned it off as if it didn’t function proper, -but was pretty rare anyway)

Not entirely, but trading to craft more badges will increase your chance of getting a random Booster Pack the higher your Steam Level is.

Soooo I got my first paycheck this December and went a bit nuts on games for myself with the steam sale (I never buy myself anything so everyone encouraged it xDD) I got my 100+ game badge just before buying all these games and I now have 132 games 
That says something right?

depends entirely on the card, some few cards give just enough gems that they have better value turned to gems than sold (usually cards that only sell for 4cents = received 2, but with a gem count value >2cents) not many cards that’s like this these days, but still a few depending on price
