Dont get me wrong,i’m not daft and understand that most of the countries have their agenda and are now helping Ukraine not from the good of their heart. We Baltics,Poland,some other countries are ,but every other big European power has their reasons.
That said in my opinion you are wrong. Well,not wrong wrong,but wrong on your general assestment that everyone is evil yes ,i do agree that all the west leaders can sure also go fuck themselves and most of reasons why is everyone suddenly helping Ukraine is public pressure ,massive protests and just ridiculous amount of public attention to this.
But this is a breaking point for a world,we are living in a history books now,because this will sure go down in them. Reasons,agendas can vary and be hard to pinpoint ,but then even countries like Sweden and … Switzerland… yes, even Switzerland are taking an actual stance , that is something too late,yes , but finally everyone sees what russia and putin really is , things which us small guys , who lived under their occupation for decades, there trying to say and expose for decades now ,but everyone was too comfy with all the russian money in their pockets to care. But now even them cant pretend that everything is fine.
That first article sounds super tone deaf and stupid to me. Starts of with “Putin is certainly at fault, but lets see if we can’t find a way to blame the US anyway!” continues with “Oh no one wanted NATO expansion” Why would Poland, Czech republic and Hungary ever want to have a military protection alliance? “no one was being threatened”.
You serious? Russia just fucking existing has ALWAYS been a threat to everyone around them. Ask @DontBeSilly silly if he’d want an invitation to NATO in the 90s. Sweden has had an existential contention with russia since before a Sweden existed and the concern was only lightly mollified with the fall of soviet. They have at every point in modern and ancient history been a threat, and at no point have they allowed us to forget it, and we have the luxury of Finland as a buffer zone to have a proxy war in at least.
NATO exists as a defensive alliance because russia is always a threat.
I’m not going to get into an argument over this, but there is certainly an argument that sometimes maintaining the status quo is better than forcing your opponent into a situation where they feel more and more threatened.
I already said that when it comes to Crimea, for example, there was simply no way Putin could let that go. Not a single country leader with some tactical understanding in their right mind would.
I suggest everyone watch the video I posted in the non-game youtube topic. It shows a lot of things most of us don’t know at all. And knowledge is the key to correct understanding and its very essence.

What it comes down to is that sometimes you just have to choose the lesser of the two evils. The status quo, for example, would have certainly been better for the Ukrainians than Ukraine becoming a European version of Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, etc. and I ask God that it never actually comes to that.
Look at all the so-called Arab Spring. People wanted better lives than the status quo. The reality is that not a single one of those countries and its people is better off now. Patience is virtue. And some injustices will not be righted in this world, but they will in the next.

NATO is a defensive alliance which started 0 conflicts and Ukraine wasnt even considered a real candidates to join either EU or NATO … until now. Now they are ,all thanks to Putin and his mad quest of rebuilding that fcking soviet union of his.
Yes, Ukraine is very strategically important but west was always weak and divided … again , until now. He fcking shot himself to the leg . Now Ukraine will be considered both as EU and NATO member , which under normal circumstances would most likely never happen.
Fuck his ’ security concerns ’ , NATO would never have balls to start any kind of war . Now… now we will see Putin achieved exactly opposite of what his original intent was . His economy is crumbling and his military might has finally exposed just as a myth. He cant take over Ukrainbe… what chances would russia have against NATO ? Even without US NATO would crush him in weeks.

Point is that as @Fraggles stated there was never such thing as ‘status quo’ for Putin. Baltics , Poland, Balkans was always targets for his military aggression and expansionist goals. Joining NATO and EU was the best thing my country ever did.
Now , even Finland and Sweden (@Fraggles could probably correct or give more accurate information on Swedens’ stance ) are considering NATO. Again , opposite of what that bastard intended.

I actually have zero problem with the western world in itself. i just dont want to be part of it personally but im perfectly fine with them living their lives and me living mine
don’t forget I’m a Westerner myself. I was 24 years old when I left belgium. several of my family members were part of the belgian resistance, and my grandpa fought the nazis in egypt after joining the brits in england and lying about his age
just in case anyone wants real insight in these issues:
there’s a huge difference between thinking we know and understand something (the product of our upbringing, scholastic education, and media coverage) and actually truly independently informing ourselves in order to determine what the actual truth is
but just to be clear, that doesn’t change the fact that what Putin is doing is wrong and terrible, and I personally believe this will tremendously hurt Russia as well (though ofc nothing in comparison to Ukraine), possibly for decades, and it might lead to his own downfall too, and at the very least, as I said before, he will eventually lose this war, even if he succeeds in taking the country
And Paypal, after blocking Ukraine from their payment service now has done the same to Russia, and the results are already showing in one of the art sites I frequent.
This is probably also happening with Russian artists on deviantART, Twitter, Instagram and many other places, who are having their income cut away from them, and some of them only have this as a means of living. This means that Patreon, Ko-Fi, Itch or any sites using Paypal as a payment method will not payout anymore to them.
