I believe we got Golden Axe II last year, didn’t we? I forgot about that till you said.
Here’s your coin back, with interest.
Yeah! It was the second one last year + Shining Force. It’s not bad at all, but it’s not that mechanically deep and the panther character was pretty cool in 3rd one, but what did I knew back then… anyway?!
sooo shiny
I already have Shining Force 2, but if they’re willing to give me Shining Force 1 I’ll accept. :3
THIS IS AMAZING!
I “participated” last time just 'cause I saw an email and went “huh, weird, may as well just do this”
AND I GOT FREE STEAM STUFF
like a WHOLE game!
and lots of DLC some of which I’ve probably never used.
but some I could! and MMM it was such a good random thing. I ended up getting proper into it after my team won the first match xD pretty sure I picked Company of heroes, but I’m not too sure.
Do they send you an email with the keys?
when/if you win during the event -yes (at least that’s how it was the last years)
You will be asked at the time of the event to choose a side. Then when the results are announced, if your chosen side wins, you will be sent an email with keys for Steam. This was how they did it in 2017 but they may change things up, I do not know.
Last year it was mostly DLC for strategy games and full games as DLC for the Sega Megadrive/Genesis Collection that we got as rewards. The year before that we got actual titles like Hell Yeah!
Last year was a bit disappointing for me, to be honest, but the previous years were decent enough. So even if you don’t get anything worthwhile, at least you tried by signing up to take part.
As some were interested in this, I thought I should point out that you can now sign up to take part for Sega’s Make War Not Love.
If you signed up already, check your email junk folder for an email from SEGA, (remember to unflag it) and then click through, you will be brought to a Steam page and if you scroll down, you will find a SIGN UP button, which I have linked at the bottom, in case you don’t have the email.
They also would like permission to access your Steam Library, so that they can deposit 2 games today to your Sega Mega Drive/Genesis Collection, if you don’t have that, you will now when you get any one of the games. You get Streets of Rage 2 (bummer, I already had it) and Revenge of Shinobi. (You may need to restart your Steam Client or untick the box in the DLC section, if you already have the Sega Megadrive/Genesis Collection, then retick it again and the download/s will begin.)
They also need you to confirm your email address and then they will deposit the games, I have mine but I didn’t get the confirmation link, so perhaps it is down due to high demand at the moment.
I understand this seems like a lot of hassle, so I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t do it. All I can say is that last year’s games weren’t that great but previous years were. The games that are being used in the event this year are:
- Total War Warhammer II
- Endless Space_2
- Dawn of War III
- Company of Heroes 2
If you do not have any of these games, they are in a sale now on Steam but if you do not wish to get them at all, then not to worry, in previous years you could vote on your winner of the day and win stuff that way too, if you chose the correct winner. (here’s a wee cheat, just look for the most popular/concurrent played game, 9/10 times it is that one who wins… Ssssshhh.)
I hope I have made everything clear, if not ask away and I shall do my best to answer them but most of my knowledge is from past events, not so much this one.
Do I think this is worth it? Absolutely, you get FREE games and DLC, so the price is right if nothing else.
I think you should enter but what do I know?
Steam Link that essentially explains it better and has the link that takes you to the above page that I just linked. Okay, it is borked, sorry. I did the usual tricks, not working so here is a hyper link
Steam Link, not ‘Steam Link’ but a link to Steam, just not Steam Link
This is just a scam, by entering you are giving me permission to collect all your data for nefarious purposes.
The last line above ^ is a lie, it is no scam… Definitely, maybe.
It seems that you cannot obtain anything through voting this year; from what I understand the only way to win anything is by playing at least one of these games (so if you don’t own any of them u actually must buy one) during these days (or every day to win something every day possibly), and then if the total number of hours played by the community for all the games together reaches a certain goal, then those who played (that very day?) get the prizes.
how i’m reading it is this
you sign up, though steam acc linking, -and you get 2 games immediately: those 2 games are Revenge of Shinobi and Streets of Rage 2 (both “sega classics” games)
then each day there is a different “prize bundle”, -regardles of what game you play or wins (the other years the prize was directly linked to game entered for)
and when X game wins, all those that played/own the leading game gets rewarded with the prize bundle -depending on tier reached
(at least i’m assuming since it’s direct acc reward activation it’s to any that own/play a 1st.place game, since you can technically own all 4 and rack hours up on all simultaneously - thus the only way for the system to distinguish is simply “game owned” or not +“recently played”)
How do I get involved?
All you need to do is sign up (and get two free SEGA Mega drive titles from the off!) and then play any one (or more) of the MWNL feature titles. Your play hours throughout the MWNL event will then be added to the combined communities total play hours. If the communities combined efforts achieve the daily hour target**, a free prize bundle will be unlocked for everyone!
*Sign ups need to be over 18 and provide a valid Steam ID and email address to register
*Daily hourly targets will be measured through a 24-hour period from 9am GMT - 9am GMT
What are the Prizes?
For each day that the combined hourly target is met, we will release a bundle of content, direct to your Steam library, that will contain a mixture of a free SEGA game, DLC and/or great discount coupons on select SEGA releases.
y it literally says u need to “play” during those days
But if I don’t play anything, I’m not registered to win, right?
I guess I can try to free some HD space for company of heroes 2 and let that idle for a few hours.
because the way it overall counts up is “total” community hours played, notice how the goal is 650k hours for the first unlock
the system has no way of determining “which” game you enter for if you “play” all 4, (which you can), thus the only way the api could hand out rewards is if you own the 1st placing game + recently played tick, which can be manipulated several ways, but ownership cant
thus i can’t see how they can actually determine “your” win/eligibility
by actual play time
I suppose they can scan every steam account as they sign up for this, look at the select titles and current hours played. Then at the end of whatever cycle they want to check they can see how many additional hours has been added to your account and trigger an eligibility flag or something.
i can’t say for certain, it’s straight up pure assumption on my part:
once signed up on site, via steam link, you’re registered, and participating regardless of play, as long as you own the leading title
can’t say if you actually need a “recently played” tick on your account besides ownership, or even X hours, but wouldn’t make much sense i think given how those are easily spoofed with idle master SAM, etc etc
given how i only own half of these games, i’m gonna try out “both options” just to see,
not playing at all 1 day, and idling both my games another, to see what happens, if any (assuming either of those titles actually win lol)
-since i’m gonna assume further; that i’m not all that into the prizes this year…
They also gave away coupons for Alpha Protocol, if I remember correctly. Look past the jank and I’d say it’s still Obsidian’s best game. I don’t say that lightly.
Well… version 1.1 of the game, of course. It is Obsidian, so you know the drill
PS, once again this contest is partially “rigged”, or at least skewed
towards Warhammer 2, given it has the most current players…
-here’s hoping CoH2 “total ownerships” tops that of Warhammer 2, and fires up their game to win this race
