There will still be suffering because the D3 lore is weak and stupid. While they were given essential carte blanch to do what they wanted through the ending of LOD and the destruction of the world stone which would “change the world” in ways no one could foretell, they didn’t acknowledge or build on that in any way. Instead they’re just children finger painting over a Van Gogh because they can’t tell the difference between their smudging paint around and the original artist’s actual mastery of technique.

More PlayStation games are coming to PC according to Jim Ryan’s interview:

What about PlayStation games on PC? A whole slate of them is on the way starting with Days Gone this spring.

“A whole new format” sounds a lot like the old one wont be supported. I bet the current ps4 VR adopters will love to hear they need to buy a whole new setup.

I may be in the minority but I have faith in the diablo 2 remaster. I mean unless vicarious visions went full cd projekt red (witcher quality into cyberbug i mean punk) i think the game will turn out well. They did the remasters for crash bandicoot and tony hawk which were consider great remasters by their communities.

Also on a side note I’m hoping diablo 4 turns out to be good because path of exile really needs competition again. GGG has churned out lots of content but the performance of the game has turned in a fucking rollercoaster ride. They are becoming like nvidia before amd made their comeback. I don’t really want to go into a rant about path of exile but their thought process on some shit doesn’t make sense. Players: Can we get a better way of trading that doesn’t require alt-tabbing or having a trade site(use to be third party site until GGG made an official one) on a separate screen? GGG: Well we don’t want trade to be easy because we don’t want it to trivialize content Me: So you don’t want me to spend the currency I made in game on gear to do high end content. You guys would rather people spend currency on paying someone to run the content for you which is cheaper than the gear I want to buy in the first place.

isn’t that kinda the same on PC tho?
some games demanding XYZ VR setup, and some newer (occulus?) isn’t backwards compatible or something (i think i saw - maybe i’m mixing things up @_@)

It’s gonna be half funny and half tragic if the old ones are obsolete.

Grim Dawn exists

on a serious note, let me be clear, my lack of faith in the D2 remaster has nothing to do with the Vicarious Visions team - but everything to do with Activision/Blizzard and especially their upper management

the only sliver of light/“hope” was the reveal of them not locking out the OG D2 - which i was tbh wholly expecting them to do(kinda still am lol ).
But ActiBlizz has shown an abysmal track record for cult/fan favorite MP games remasterings - and i’m legit scared af what they might butcher in D2 features to milk the almighty :dollar: (and ofc likewise for D4, aside from them having 0 regard for the continuation of the “true” Diablo franchise)

The problem you have on PC with VR is twofold, for one thing you have two companies one of which pays developers to make their games exclusively work with their system. Secondly that it’s up to every developer what system they want to make their game work with and I imagine it’s a lot of work to make it work on both since there’s no top level authority that enforces any sort of common standard they can work with.

That’s not the case with the playstation, there IS a top level authority that could make a common standard for how PSVR works and they could have made them work the same way from a software perspective just like they do with the console themselves. They work with only their own hardware so it should be easy to create that common standard within their own environment.

Now there’s no actual information about what this all new standard actually means so I can’t say anything about what the future holds. But from what I’d come to expect is that they’re going to intentionally make it so that old VR sets will not work with the PS5, the new one cable connection could easily be worked around with an adapter so they’re probably going to make it work differently on a software level as well so that current developers also have to relearn how to make games for it.

nono, i totally get that it’s way more arbitrary if it’s not compatible for Sony
it was more the backwards compatibility example with occulus i tried to draw on to make a similar example (tho like i said i’m not 100% sure it’s correct) - since that would also either be weird arbitrary incompatibility. (or suggests something happens techwise “forcing” it so?)
^tho ofc that hinges on the occulus comparison holding up, and if it doesn’t then Sony is just being sony - we know how they looove backwards compatible features

damn, that game’s story was actually rly rly good (or at least remarkably better than expected from a game that looked pretty generic except for the zombie crowd physics)

waiting for the sequel on that to see where it goes
