Just letting you guys know: stop playing CS2 now! Valve has been giving away VAC bans like candy on Halloween.

Just play other games and wait for eventual fixes and clarifications! Don’t tempt fate!

They’ve addressed the issue on today’s patch. Feel free to play the game again!

Last time i played CS it must have been version 1.6, and that’s a few years ago. But thanks for the heads-up anyways, i hadn’t heared of this.

Apropos to my post above, I really can’t imagine myself enjoying any sort of competitive online game. I had played World of Tanks for awhile but any sort of zero-sum environment is going to make people behave poorly and eventually the novelty wore off under the grind of player toxicity.

Most cooperative games even have trouble not providing perverse incentives. While it isn’t perfect, Deep Rock Galactic is really the best I’ve found. Cooperation always leads to the best outcomes but that’s not enough to actually encourage it because betrayal is more reliable in a low-trust environment (see: Prisoner’s Dilemma) and this is exacerbated when the betrayer is anonymous and can just evaporate from the system at will (as in online gaming).

I think probably the biggest factors in DRG’s success at actually achieving cooperation are class design, resource sharing, and easy kicking. Every class is a support class, and every resource is shared with the whole team. Every tunnel you dig and every flare you throw to ease your own traversal in the caves helps everyone, and every mineral you deposit gets duplicated for everyone else to receive.

Do trolls exist? Sure, the game can’t magic sociopaths out of society. But trolls are exceedingly rare because there’s not much in it for them: they can’t reward themselves at the expense of the team (their minerals are duplicated to everyone) and they can’t even get the satisfaction of seeing people get upset with them (the host can just kick them from the mission with a few clicks). So most public lobbies are an absolute joy.

Oh, boy, the year haven’t started properly and we already got two flops and a game market crash.
What’s next, GTA 6 will be delayed again ?

Ashes of Creation has just been canceled. All developers at Intrepid have been fired.
