is there any reason to replay the plant one beside the fact that you would like to revisit it? it seemed pretty linear to me when i played
An achievement hunter would go back to it because there are in fact a few meaningful choices to be made at certain points. But no, for me, I just want to enjoy it again, and will probably make approximately the same choices I made last time.
I’m also the kind of person to re-read their favorite books every year, which probably tells you everything you need to know.
If you want to get into the animal cognition angle: I can memorize things for short periods, but my long-term memory is extremely generalized. I think it’s just how my brain works at a fundamental level. So I learn fundamental properties and rules but not details. For example, where other people memorized separate equations for properties like radians in a circle, circumference of a circle, area of a circle, volume of a sphere… for me the solution was always to just latch on to one axiomatic property. If you know the definition of a radian, you don’t need to memorize anything else because all those equations are trivial to derive by just integrating over the radius into higher dimensions. I thought this was normal until my wife was like, “What are you even talking about?” and I had to explain it for the first time.
Consequently, I get a lot of re-enjoyment from things I like if I just step away from them for awhile.
Again, I’m glad I listened to @M00 while I could.
Even if you have the money to spend who wants to give it to Nintendo right now while they continue to operate like a Lawyer Firm that makes video games. They don’t even have the balls to use their ridiculous patents to go after a company like Microsoft, they just continue to strong arm Indie devs.
do you have investment advice? or lottery numbers? ![]()
Finally some good news in this cold and shitty world. Or is it ?
Can’t wait to see the prices…..![]()
I was about to post about the Steam Machine! I am so excited. They should have called it Steam Engine.
I hope they don’t have 3 tiers of the Steam Engine. Lite version, normal version, and premium version.
They better have a Companion Cube optional box art. Why shouldn’t they? They made that game.
VR is meh. I’m still not into VR and I don’t really feel the need to buy into it.
The controller with a touchpad is pretty smart. A lot of people hate touchpads on controllers. But I personally liked it for small movements. For this, it is a good idea since you will need to move the mouse pointer with the controller.
I may buy this. But if it can play every steam game, I am guessing it is around $1,200. How did they get good hardware to fit in the little thing?
It also comes with the Steam OS. But I thought the Steam OS was only for the Steam deck. I wonder if the Steam OS will be functional on normal desktops.
A lot to look forward to next year!
Steam os is mostly a modified Arch based distro with steam picture mode running in gamemode or something like that. I think there’s already a third party version for desktop computers.
Might consider the controller, i really like how the steamdeck works.
I am thinking your price prediction is way to high, everything I see it will be in the $600-800 range depending on drive size.
https://bazzite.gg/ think thats the distro you are referring to, very similar to Steam OS.
@Tencore You’re probably right. I found the tech specs on Steam Machine. I forget that a console can be customized for superior performance with average components (The CPU seems good too). I recall people saying the Nintendo Switch will not be able to run certain games, but when it was released it was able.
Now that I see Steam OS is a distro of Linux, I can expect it to be optimized for the hardware.
It must have been 10 years ago when I had to use proton(?) to play on Steam but couldn’t play any online games. I am still am amateur. So it is convenient to have the SteamOS so all the hard work for me.
I dread getting Win11 because of the AI and other invasive things. When I buy a new computer, I hope I can finally stick to Linux this time. I would feel most comfortable knowing the SteamOS is backed by Valve.
I’m honestly mostly interested on the controller, but the Steam Machine seems an interesting budget option.
Also you can change the SSD and memory sticks from it with your own.
Bazzite is supposed to be very similar, but you can also download SteamOS from Valve and install it on any machine you want. It’s not supported by Valve, and maybe not worth it. I tought you needed a third party install script to do it, but it seems you can just install it from a boot drive like any other distro.
Also, because you can use proton outside of steam, combined with the work of people like GloriousEggroll, it has been really smooth sailing on my side. Granted, i don’t play a million different games. But Steam, GoG, Epic and Itch, it has all worked pretty easily.
Being a massive computer nerd i do find it fun to learn linux and make use of bash and shell to a limited way. Might not be as fun for anyone that finds that painful.
Yay!
Just a reminder to everyone that Deep Rock Galactic Season 6 starts next week and I’ll be frequently hosting an open lobby.
For those who don’t have it, the game is on sale in preparation for the new season. All DLC is cosmetic and the seasons are free, so you don’t need anything more than the base game.
Rock and stone.
