And yet, the problem is just porn.

Wanted to buy a Switch 1 since it’s cheaper ? Too late.

I would never say that gambling itself should be illegal, that’s a bridge too far. But all gambling should have to be in-person using cash or some physical cash-equivalent (like chips). Humans just aren’t equipped to understand digital quantities and it shouldn’t be legal to gamble from your phone using your bank account.

“The only winning move is not to play.”

@BlivetWidget I agree, and preferentially without stimulating kids and teens to gamble as well.

I only watched 1 min of this but i think this guy’s tripping. The game industry is doing just fine. Battlefield 6 will be the best-selling one for sure, and then ARC Raiders will sell like crazy, and then GTA 6 is just gonna blow up the whole world with how many copies it sells.

so he’s tripping

if anything, some ppl are no longer buying games, yes, cuz they just don’t need to. Gamers are getting free games left and right on a daily basis, and then there’s gamepass, which someone could just have gamepass and be a-ok without ever buying a game at all

Well, I watched the entire video, and I can say that it’s not a matter of the game industry going well or not but that gaming is becoming an expensive hobby people can’t afford anymore. As someone said in the comments, more people are realizing it’s a luxury that they can live without.
You may say “No shit!” but for some gaming is a style of life they used to live by everyday, and buying a new game was an exciting thing to do. Nowadays people are growing skeptical and suspicious of even new indie games.

They rather shell $70~$80 dollars to buy essential stuff like food and clothing than spend it on an unfinished, more of the same, buggy, rushed live service slop we see nowadays, or even buy 3~4 indie games depending of their price. In some cases they even resort to go through their libraries and play the games that are already there and also flat out piracy.
People constantly say how Hollywood has ran out of creativity with its many reboots, remakes and sequels being churned everyday but the same thing is happening to gaming, and people are becoming fed up of all this nostalgia bait too.

Things have been dire for people, especially Gen Z who’s struggling with finding decent jobs and as people get older they find less and less time to play games like they used before. Not to mention how those corporations feel offended for either you buy their stuff or don’t, relying on insulting their consumers on all senses.
They also make some really stupid decisions like raising prices of everything, take away games from your library without your consent, brick your console if you ever do something “wrong” on their eyes, insist on live service games to fill them up with MTX and so on, which has been leading people to not trust them with their money.

So yeah, despite the apparent “success” gaming is having people are becoming more conscious of where and when to spend their money and if it’s worth the hassle to do so.

Read about this the other day, all purchases for people aged 18-25 or so are down. Videogames had the biggest decline, down 50% from last year or something.

This has nothing to do with games, but an extreme cost of living crisis.

With AAA being a letdown, what about giving a chance to games made in Brazil ?

also, here’s another thing, COVID caused an unprecedented boom for the gaming industry (and others as well) and it’s only normal that there’s a type of mini-recession in those particular industries afterwards given that that was an atypical situation to begin with.

as a sidenote, it’s absolutely ridiculous how many games are constantly coming out now, and good ones at that. Like just this past week or 2 there’s like 4 super good rogue lites that came out, 3 of them shooters, and those r just the ones i know of

it’s ridiculous

one simply doesnt even know what to play anymore cuz there’s too much choice

I usually love watching the game shows, have since the start of E3 years ago but so tired of seeing the next COD game or cinematic trailers that dont show any gameplay.

Something I have noticed…Humble and Fanatical are both using expiration dates for their keys now. :weary_cat:

It’s to fight against resellers, bots and the likes of G2A.

Think it is also for people like me that hold keys forever and so they dont have to get more keys when they run out. Humble still owes me 35 keys that were exhausted.

This is SO frustrating!!! I’m owed close to 50 keys, and yet I doubt that I would have this amount of missing keys from third-party resellers…

Not that I’m advocating for resellers here, and I don’t use them, but still… this is just unacceptable!

GIVE ME THE KEYS I PAID FOR ALREADY, HUMBLE!

This cannot be legal, but sadly I don’t think there is any recourse for us nobodies (relative to IGN)

It sucks even more when you see things like the new bundle today that contains TemTem and I still haven’t received my key from the monthly bundle :frowning:

Strange Antiquities just came out. I think I’m going to play Strange Horticulture again first, but I picked it up so I can jump right into it when I’m done.
