Are you using classic graphics or the “remastered” version? I heard in a Retronauts podcast that whilst they both work well, there’s something about the modern animations that makes jumping easier, despite the fact that the physics are the same.

Never owned a Master System. Genesis/Megadrive was my first Sega console. But I did play Dragon’s Curse on the PC Engine/TG-16. How does the Master System version compare? Was it initially developed for the Master System and ported to PC Engine, or vice versa? Curious to know which is the best version.

Nice to know that kids today can still enjoy games we played growing up :grinning:

y i use the remastered version cuz it’s just so beautiful. I only use the classic graphics to show the kids what gaming was like back in the day, lol. I wouldn’t know about their being a difference in gameplay though; some of the stuff is rly challenging as it is already, like the secret mouse man place; took me like an hour to get that done.

Looks like the SMS version was the original release -

I can’t fault that one (since that’s the version I played). The PC Engine version seems to have a better frame rate but a slightly looser localisation.

I have fond memories of Mouse Man bouncing and ricocheting all over the place! Also his constant dancing feet.

haha, y, though they kinda nerfed those in the remastered version, lol

Resurrecting this ancient thread because this awesome game is currently on sale for $5.00 at Nuuvem, and I see on Steam that a number of Chronies still want it. Pretty insane deal considering it was selling for $13.00 on Chrono a few months ago.

AVAILABLE REGIONS FOR ACTIVATION
Across the globe, except South America, Europe and United Kingdom.

What a gut punch.
Across the globe. :star_struck:
Except Europe. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Damn you region locking!

 hmm, that seems a bit weird. i don’t remember that game having/should have a region lock…? :man_shrugging:
(+“row” key?, but exluding eu+south africa, but not cis/uae or any such “entire region specific lock”, makes it look even stranger
) :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

-wait a minute

[quote] considering it was selling on Chrono a few months ago. [/enddoggosaurwoof]

^yea that just makes this supposed region locking even stranger(combined with steamdb only 1 entry ofc), since chrono as far as i recall, haven’t put weird disclaimers on their keys/sales, since they pick(ed) games without locks

Guessing it’s something to do with Nuuvem and how they acquire their keys.:thinking::thinking:

yea, but if a game only has 1 variant, in this case supposedly an unrestricted version, it makes it much much weirder, https://steamdb.info/app/543260/subs/ it’s basically like they somehow managed to whip up their own sub-package
(not to mention while a certain set of “row” labeled regions restrictions have excluded eu, it usually doesn’t add more “singles” and had something of a type of “america” region lock where NA didn’t suffice, or some such types “usually”)
ex. call of duty with it’s multiple packages because sale with actual region restrictions https://steamdb.info/app/476600/subs/

Edit/minor off topic cod rant

^edit, lol reading through the CoD-ww2 packages i’m glad i stopped spending money on “them”
2017, and activision/publishers still putting god damn region "run" restrictions on games?!- bought from the most expensive countries and for mp games at that?!.
Guess activisions message is “don’t buy our shit if you like to travel internationally (-and like play in your downtime)”… -remind me again why EA got all the bad rap but activision continually skated by

They must be targeting the large number of people who primarily speak German, Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese outside of Europe and South America…

Damn. I didn’t notice the region restrictions when I bought it. Sorry @HouGuard.

So let me get this straight, it’s Nuuvem imposing the region lock and not the game? Aren’t they a Brazilian company? Strange that the games wouldn’t be available in South America

see that’s the strange thing i can’t wrap my head around, they shouldn’t be able to do that(on the actual game/key), and steamdb supposedly claims there is no region restricted package id for a depot, (and i’m reading the Nuveem store as labeling theirs a steam key). so while it could have be a sales restriction(purely on their end then), it makes it much weirder when they say it’s an activation restriction, because steamdb has no such notice on any entry for wonder boy…

i just checked a bunch of their catalogue, and it’s on everything, even games i’m 99.9% sure shouldn’t have such region disclaimer either
so i’m pretty sure it’s a semi safe bet that most of their keys work, even tho some probably definitely will not, (and they just didn’t want to bother with proper region lock descriptions), and don’t wish to sell to eu for some reason even if “x” could would work,
-since they are selling to na, and they pretty much have their own region too, separate from both brazil(tho na does at times get bunched together with south) or even cis/ru.
i’m definitely guessing it’s more of a sale policy “issue”, for whatever reason, and because of it didn’t want to bother with more/better proper detailed region lock disclaimer warning, ( -and per game)…

god dang it :triumph:, after deciding, here late at night, that i’d be willing to “gamble” the 5$ to test my theory, i click the link, and the game is changed/gone :confounded:, no more steam key copy/logo, and not for sale -at all :man_facepalming:
if ya snooze ya lose … well sorta, at least lose the chance to waste a few bucks… oh well :man_shrugging:
i see itad has removed nuveem too from my settings/recommendations :face_with_raised_eyebrow:, (probably as cause of them putting up that region disclaimer at some point), so i will have to take notice of them somehow else in case something comes up,
-but i think i will try to pay attention just to see if it works for wünder deals like this in the future maybe…
