I snipped a few bits of several videos I took today to make this minute-long thing:
I canāt help it. Every time I hear the word āchivesā, I think about a song we used to perform: āJive Talkināā by the Bee Gees. Back then I used to tell a pun about singing āChive Talkināā.
I did a bit more video cutting, so each one of these is just a minute and a half. The ducks are loving their water time, and the quail are just getting used to eating, drinking, and falling asleep all overā¦
The ducks got introduced to grapes today, and one of them decided that she was too good to come check out something new:
The quail babies are 3 days old, they arenāt doing too many things differently, they wander around, look out in curiosity, but are too scared of anything that moves. Ultimately, they like to just fall asleep all over:
@YQMaoski A duck came up to the lemonade stand and he said to the man running the stand: Hey! Got any grapes?
Yours actually got some. :XD
Thanks @YQMaoski - I waited for my wife to get home from shopping, and we watched the two new videos together. That first video is a really grape (great) video! In the second video we laughed when the one little guy was sleeping face-down with his little legs spread out.
Yeah, itās a problem for a lot of people kissing their birds⦠But since they like to roll around in their own poop I am pretty careful to always wash my hands after playing with them.
Indeed, we rarely eat grapes, and my wife went and bought 2 pounds of grapes after reading that ducks like them, lol!
I am really happy that you are having fun watching these videos. It makes it worthwhile to keep doing them and sharing.
Even though we are used to it now, being our 3rd time hatching and raising quail, we still get nervous in this early stage seeing them like that, need to keep checking to make sure their little chests are going up and down and they are breathing. But sometimes they just fall asleep like that, and itās really hilarious.
Maybe they are learning to play dead, like an opossum. That reminds me, years ago, one of our cats had a chipmunk on our back porch. The little guy was laying motionless and spread-eagle face down on the smooth cement, and was as flat as little bear rug. Finally our cat walked away, and that chipmunk popped up and ran away. We were relieved, but couldnāt help laughing at that sight.
Kim (my wife, she said I can use her name) had just asked me to take a picture of the eggs in a birdās nest in in a Begonia Hanging Basket on our front porch. I was careful to be quick, not wanting to stress the parents. As I took the photo I noticed movement. Thatās when I realized one of the 6 eggs had just hatched.
Our grape vines are just starting to bloom and have some leaves on it.
My potted begonia appears to be dying
They like that tub? Water (What are) you saying?
Found a beaver by a sea the other day. Highly unusual place for a beaver to hang out ⦠https://streamable.com/xjcy6a video down the link. Doesnt seem to be a way to upload directly.
So a bit late on the updates, I have been rather busy lately between work and other things that I had some raw footage but didnāt have time to upload. So hereās a series of videos as if I casted Giant Growth by tapping into some Forestsā¦
The Cayuga ducks have been growing rapidly since their last visit here, being able to to fit 2 into that little tub, but definitely no moreā¦
Now the quail I donāt have great footage of, itās a bit harder to get because they are just too shy. They are naturally wild birds and so they take to each other, but never really to us humans, especially because we are so huge⦠Their survival instinct just keeps them away from me most of the time. Most of the time I have a camera trained on them, they are rushing fast to the farthest possible corner and staying there until I walk away.
I know itās a lot of videos, but they are all short, and document some nice growth of both sets of birds, so I hope you donāt mind the spam. At least I am going to keep them all in one post.
@markwr , hope you and you wife enjoy these, even if they are a little late.
WOW they have grown so fastā¦
