@Amyrakunejo If you need computing power/modern OS to run your projects, I can provision a VM with Win10 for you (running 24/7 on an ESX, accessible via TeamViewer or whatever you want to use).
Regarding Raspberries: I don’t think any of them would provide more power than what you already have. You could however consider running a lightweight linux distro on your PC. It would still be slow, but - unlike WinXP - it would at least allow you to run modern browsers and apps. Perhaps it would even allow you to run GeForce Now (it can already run on Chrome, so it would just be a matter of stream decoding performance).
This made me feel awful since you tagged my user name. Would you tell me why esp I put forth options that aren’t options for you? Geographical reasons? Things that don’t interest you?
I try to post links to things that are free downloads for anyone with a gmail address to avoid that.
Unless you don’t like puzzles (clutching my pearls) what kind of human are you anyway?
I wish all a good day. I am going to pour myself a fresh cup of coffee and listen to a new Podcast that began yesterday with 2 of my all time favorite people in it:
About Renegades: Born in the USA is a series of conversations between President Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen about their lives, music, and enduring love of America—despite all its challenges.
The little bit I’ve listened to so far and the reviews I’ve read say it is actually not very political, but very funny.
It is Free and you can listen to it in your browser. I have a Free Spotify account and I’m sorry but I don’t know if you can listen to it if you don’t have an account.
I am sure that it can be downloaded for educational or back-up purposes to your devices.
Freecycle changes daily. We have one person who posts wants daily, sometimes 15 or 20 times a day. I have never seen her offer anything.
I know this person and believe me she could buy the town she lives in. Which irritates me to no end. She is 20 or so miles away but works in the town where I live. Some people is all I can say.
If you don’t ask no one will know you need. It is possible that someone has just what you need to offer but know the people on the list and know they don’t need it, would sell it instead of using it for a good cause or for a reason we can’t know.
Please don’t judge Freecycle by a daily look just as we shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.
@sewcraftyme My favourite game of all time: Zelda: Ocarina of Time, so yeah. Puzzles, crosswords - that’s my wind down before bed thing. Thanks for the linkage. ^^
I love Zelda games and would be hard pressed to choose a favorite. I’ve been playing them from the first one way back in the dinosaur age. My daughter’s favorite is Ocarina of Time also.
I know I have some other links to puzzle things in my bookmarks. When you need more or if you just want more let me know and I’ll pass them along to you. Most of what I have can be downloaded free because that’s what I can afford.
These are not my forte. Words puzzles are. These type of puzzles cause my brain to start spinning its wheels until there is smoke coming out of my ears.
Not good. Anyway there are lots of these puzzles on his twitter page. If you click on his link it gives you another link to purchase his book on Amazon.
I hadn’t been to their site for awhile because I couldn’t afford a subscription. But with a digital subscription maybe now I can.
My daughter, Ilana was almost 4 when she began solving their logic puzzles. I’ve since been trying to figure out where I got her from.
My name isn’t Rosemary and she was with me in the hospital from birth until we were discharged so there wasn’t any opportunity to switch her out with someone from a family who is comfortable with math.
Summary
My daughter disagrees with the lock answer. I have no clue at all which of you are correct and I would love to know how to hide your answer like that.
@delenn13, @sewcraftyme, most of what I saw was for farming stuffs, empty wine bottles, maybe a piece of furniture, and the number of listings per area were less than ten each across all of KanSUCKS. Yeah, I looked at the entire state. I mean, I could look again, and I could probably throw a request up, but like, I asked for something in a Facebook group, and that was fruitless…this gives the same vibes. @SeekerSupreme, I’m going to try to figure out how to do that Linux distro thing when I have burnable DVD-R discs, because USB loading is too slow. Yeah; I don’t have any of those either. I was gonna buy some but that didn’t happen. (Windows 7 not XP)
She can feel free to disagree. If you wish to find the answer for sure then you could print the image out, cut the key out of the paper and simply place it over the locks and you should find which one it fits in. I COULD describe in words why it fits in the one I picked, but that would result in a pretty long tiresome post.
There are ways to train one’s perception for those spatial puzzles:
@Amyrakunejo I would recommend going with a USB flash drive rather than a DVD.
The read rate of a DVD-R is 22 MB/s (for a 16x speed drive, which you probably have), half of that for a DVD-RW. That’s sequential, and you’re interested in random access, which will drastically reduce that speed. Any USB stick should offer way better performance; you probably have USB 2.0 ports - 60MB/s max; any old pen drive should offer that read rate, with seek times likely at least 100x shorter than a DVD.
On top of that, with a stick you get a chance to create a live USB with persistence (to save your settings/data, install programs, etc.), no way to do that with a DVD-R/RW.
Plus, you’ll probably need to test multiple distros, with several config variants before you arrive at something that works for you.
