The OT Thread!! Post Here When You Feel The Need!

@DontBeSilly @YQMaoski

This review was very helpful, especially the very first time I read it back in June 2020. Though if memory serves me correctly, it was written by one honorable, Dont be Silly Wrap your Willy. That said, you have been flagged for plagiarism and a handful of the various Steam review groups have been made aware of your transgression(s). I say (s) 'cause folks are currently going through your library of Steam reviews to check against any more plagiarized works. Anyways, have a phenomenal day. So long, and thanks for all the screenshots!

Took him about 5 mintute to delete mine but mine wasn’t as good as yours…LOL :+1:

Edit: As you can see from @GeekInUndies post, someone copied @DontBeSilly’s review WORD FOR WORD!!!

Here’s @DontBeSilly’s review:

And here’s 𝓢𝓾𝓹𝓻𝓮𝓶𝓮’s:

When you disrespect one Chronie, you disrespect them ALL.

Go forth and report him. He deserves no mercy. Go Chronies/Minions…Go GO GO

Report him for what? Inappropriate behavior? Malicious activity? What does plagiarism fall under?

And yes it looks like all his reviews are copied.

Also his profile is now private.

Got an error 15 of some kind when I sent a report with a message to them. No idea if it is an account thing or not.
But anyway what’s the motivation to plagiarise a Steam review? I doubt it will bring in much clout or cash compared to if they were on more popular social media sites like Twitter or something. This isn’t an endorsement at all (it’s the opposite, actually), it’s just a bizarre thing really. Is it for some sort of monetary benefit, if there is any?

“Clout” as a reviewer, can lead to free review copies of games, either given free by publishers/developers or acquired through an application process.

There could be other possible benefits that I am unaware of. That said, I am totally talkin’ out of my ass here… @YQMaoski or @missiloon can clarify this matter better than I can.

They can get points for the Points store too.

Steam points can also be obtained when other Steam users give you an award. Users can give you these awards for contributions you have made in the Steam community, such as writing reviews, posting screenshots, making guides, etc

I’ve also reported them to the staff. Unfortunately that’s nothing new since people will do everything to get free games and points for themselves. This extends for the so called “curators”.

They’re stealing my review format that I am forced to make to get some event badge or something, how dare them?!

Though I only do to games that I actually enjoy and without claiming to be a curator :joy:

Man, all of this plagiarism and stealing, all for a fancy frame with sparkles that would blind you if you looked at it a second. Truly a hill worth dying for.

What sort of systematic oppression is this? This only benefits road runners obviously. We should be building better roads for more coyotes.

If you have a bunch of cards you can use the script below to craft all of them:

I gotta rant… :sob:

Arma Reforger came out on May 17th and it is STILL unplayable online, which is where the gameplay is. Everything else is mission editor or mods. I’ve played my fair share of EA titles and seen the various crashes, bugs etc that can hinder gameplay and it does not generally bother me because its EA and we’re working to help the devs fix it, but this is the first time I have bought an EA where it is literally unplayable for 99.9% of the playerbase and its been weeks with no update on it.

I’m so angry with how much of a waste of money this was, but mostly I’m angry that Bohemia took such a huge chunk out of their reliability by releasing this mess. :face_exhaling:

Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

I guess we should take this as a reason why we should wait until reviews are out, both from audiences and critics. Or at least to have some sort of skepticism and concern before going forward for checking out the product. This kind of goes for all thing in general (be it movies, TV shows, etc.), but for gaming it is especially bad since its kind of human nature for people to get excited for things, especially if it’s from something they enjoy or had fondness of previously (I’m quite excited to watch the new Dragon Ball film, after all) When beloved or acclaimed studios CD Projekt Red and Bohemia decide to release products that are unpolished, maybe its time we reevaluate the industry and labour laws as a whole, let alone the developers that run them. Remember the last time gaming companies refuse to self regulate? Regardless of your opinion on how the responses and solutions are (the outrage I feel stemmed from a lack of understanding and old folks angry at new stuff they don’t understand, the ESRB’s method of showing a video may not give them the most accurate picture on how the games are really like and the rating system in media overall just don’t really work well in today’s age) it showed that, if they choose to not properly inform people about the behind the scenes activity, it could affect the market negatively through I’ll informed laws and thus the quality of products could go down thanks to hefting fees or stringent rules.
Of course, talk is cheap, and boycotts don’t really work long term, may be unrealistic, or are generally ineffective, so the most we can do is to support those who are transparent about their practices that isn’t just some faceless statement on their Twitter page more often.
There’s not even a clear solution to this mess, since there are those within these studios that are passionate and are doing their best given the crappy conditions they have to go through, of which failure regardless of their quality of output and attitude means they might get laid off, ergo they would not have food on the table. And sometimes these projects could turn out great, despite the horrid conditions. So while it would be awesome to distinctly support products that clearly are not made from the backs of tired devs simply because the game isn’t terrible, sometimes it might be like a TLOU 2 where some, regardless of what you or I think, did manage to garner some positive responses from people.
Man, its been a while since I had a long post here, huh? Another off their pants post from yours truly
