New COD has battle royale with land, sea, and air vehichles

and there’s rumours the new BF will too, which we will find out about in a week; this will only lead to more studios trying to bring out a BR closing for sure; it’s gonna be a blood bath among smaller studios

I think if Far Cry 5 is any indication, BR won’t change a thing in these multiplayer games. CoD will be CoD, Far Cry will be ignored, and Battlefield will be Battlefield.

That said, everything I’ve heard about BO IIII seems to be shaping it up for one embarrassing franchise-slaying clusterf*** of a game. As one of those pesky contrarians who appreciated Infinite Warfare for having one of the greatest singleplayer experiences in the entire franchise alongside Battlefield [a series that has consistently botched its singleplayer in every game except for Bad Company 1/2], I think BO IIII sounds like a bad joke instead of a game.

Activision is listening to the wrong people, the people who make a fuss online regardless of the game’s actual quality, the kind of people who are there just to join in on the CoD hate train because it’s what popular YouTubers do. By listening to these people instead of those who were actually playing the games, the ones who made CoD IW one of the top selling games of 2016 despite the internet CoD-bashing campaign, Activision is digging the franchise’s grave.

Can’t say I sympathize with them, of course. Activision is just a crappy name on top of a pile of talent, and it doesn’t get stingier than them. I’m amazed that the Destiny franchise is as good as it is, and the fact that CoD has succeeded for so long; that’s not even getting into their price-gouging nonsense. It almost seems like Activision is being held up in spite of its decisions, simply because of the talented studios they’ve swallowed up.

Let me just make that clear. I liked CoD IW. I think ELEX is pretty good. I praised The Technomancer. I thought Metal Gear Survive was alright. I’M talking shit about this game. If that isn’t a warning and a half, I don’t know what can dissuade you.

Battle royale used to be a good genre. Now all the studios have taken the sweet out of it. Idk what I’m saying lo!

Why do u bring up Far Cry? I don’t get it; Far Cry 5 doesn’t have a BR mode afaik. I personally think the BR modes in COD and BF will be very popular additions for the ppl who play those 2 games, and like i said, rip the small studios still working on their own BR’s. The market will be deadly unless 1 or 2 rly take it by storm somehow, but i don’t see that happen at all; I think Fortnite will remain the king of BR for a very very long time.

BR has really tooken over the gaming world, it’s a shame.
Just because people like Fortnite or PUBG doesn’t mean you have to do it.
We already have the dose of BR we need, we need new genres of games

My rambling done I feel like a lot of the COD people are looking forward to it and a lot of them are thinking it’ll ruin COD.

Also, the thing just joined Destiny 2 on the Blizzard launcher. I must admit, I may try this new CoD, sounds fun. Turns out that competition is a good thing…

I don’t know if they mean to make BR the main or only multiplayer experience in COD or something, but I’d say if you’re making a multiplayer focused FPS title then creating a BR mode while it’s in vogue seems like a pretty good idea to me.

  • There’s no more single player
  • Zombie mode gets a major upgrade in that it now plays on different maps throughout history (they showed one in ancient Rome (ROFL) and then 2 in more recent times [WW1-ish and modern i think]), and they will have more maps/timeperiods
  • There’s classic multiplayer with whatever all comes with that of maps and modes
  • There’s BR on a huge map with vehicles

That’s it, so no SP, but coop, multiplayer and BR.

That sounds like what the majority of COD players would actually want from what I can tell. I don’t know maybe there is a large quantity of COD players who bought the games for the SP campaigns alone?

I know there has been a bit of a mindset towards a $60 game should have SP for a long time and to a certain degree I’d agree with that. But I suppose if they showed that their development of the MP content was improved by not focusing on a largely superfluous and pointless SP campaign then I’d take it into consideration. Especially if I never had the intention of playing the SP anyway.

Kind of excited to watch BF’s presentation next week btw, not that I’ll play it, but it will be interesting to see what they come with, and it will be presented by Trevor Noah

Y i think the main issue is that SP takes up most of the budget actually, while most ppl don’t even play it… so this definitely makes sense

No one likes the idea of playing BR on tons of COD maps combined along with tons of COD weapons? Just me? Okay.

It’s weird that this is both an unexpected and completely predictable move. On one hand, I never expected such a weird genre to get enough attention from AAA developers to warrant recognition from what is arguably the king of AAA gaming. On the other hand, COD has delved into weird genres in the past, like with Nazi zombies, or the prop hunt mode in WWII.

Hopefully this trend of BR games dies down soon. I’m just not a fan of that kind of formula, and BR games tend to do very little to maintain long-term interest.
