Gotta love Snoop playing game memes
I’m afraid only a few will understand though.
Yeah, it’s long but worth it. I’ve watched it live and it was great.
It’s the final match of a KOF 2002 tournament where the winner will win R$5,000,000 Brazilian Reais.
It starts at 1:07:15
Many years laters someone managed to reach the end of the classic Atari 2600 game Enduro. This ending may surprise or disappoint some people. Skip to 19:00 if you don’t want to be bothered with details and just want to see it.
Speaking of old racing games, here’s a recommendation from Youtube which I liked from.
I’ve had the opportunity to play this on a real Mega Drive I had, and also Test Drive 2. Those were my first 3D racing games ever, heh.
Funny you mention Test Drive, I had a nostalgia trip last year with a bunch of old games I used to play, Test Drive: Off Road 3 was one of them, for me it was one of the first games to try and simulate terrain and tire conditions. You could have a hard time trying to climb the mountains in Canadian Rockies depending on tire, car or path choice.
Now speaking of first racing games, this was my first, even before the emulator ones:
This licensed music with racing games reminds me of the good ol’ times where I played PS1 games in a lan house after school, and of course my favorites were The Need For Speed games, with the fourth one being the one I’ve played with the most. Long gone are the times were EA wasn’t a hateful organization:
My very first legit PC game, besides a bunch of freebies and demos from a bundle inside a CD would be Network Q RAC Rally Championship. I remember listening to the soundtrack all the time in my CD player.
Good ol’ pc magazines with a bunch of demos, I had a lot of those as well. Would replay the demos nonstop because didn’t have that many games, usually would spend a whole year playing the same game (Diablo II, RollerCoaster Tycoon, Age of Empires 2) with the demos in-between. In fact, I played Age of Empires 2 demo a lot before owning the full version, that’s why the trial version soundtrack for me sounds better than the full version.
I had Sega Rally as a demo, back then pc games already had an impressive smoothness compared to consoles, but wasn’t as accessible. I’ve spent a lot of time with this one, both me and my uncle played through the whole thing
Yep, I also had a lot of fun playing those demos back then. My favorite from the bunch was Fire Fight, a 3D shmup from Epic MegaGames (who’d become the freebie giver Epic Games we know of nowadays), Chaos Works and EA. It was a really fun game, with a great soundtrack and secrets to find.
I had very few PC games back then so mostly of them were freebies I found online or flash games.
I used to rent a lot the first Sega Rally to Sega Saturn besides the Virtua Fighter games and World Wide Soccer. It was honestly one of the best racing games I ever played in my whole life. I have fond memories of it.
Alright, I’ve never heard of this Fire Fight or knew that Epic was a thing back then, lol. It definitely looks like something I would’ve play! I loved the old Strike games, and this kinda feels like that gameplay in a futuristic setting. It’s also one of the reasons I picked up Brigador here on Chrono when the coin shop opened!
k
I think the Sega Rally demo I had was for the sequel and I believe I played on Dreamcast as well, when I friend of my uncle lend him the console for a week, the announcer had a very iconic voice lol. I gotta say, Dreamcast was one hell of a smooth console, the games at the time seemed to run at 60fps, it was beautiful and kiddo me immediately thought that was one expensive console because it was so different from the PS1 I was used to and no one ever owned it.
Are we talking about old racing games here, i really used to love racing games, still like them.
My first gaming console was my fathers old Atari 2600 and two of my favourite games were Pole position and Night driver.
Then on the Amiga i had Lotus esprit turbo challenge 1 and 2.
Then on pc we got Need for speed special edition.
And two of my favourites from the X-box Project gotham racing, the game i bought along with the console, and Burnout 2.
There was of course more games, like the Colin McRae and Sega rally games mentioned above, and loads of shareware demos. Good times.
Some more into the mix! I always come back for some Road Rash, be it the PC version or the MD/Gen ones. There have been some tries to bring this back with the likes of Road Redemption, but the original ones will always have a special place.
Goes without saying, this one was played by most of us, probably
Anyone ever played Rockstar’s take on the street racing?
Used to play this a lot with my friend, Nascar racing in town roads with power ups to blow your opponents, just crazy! There was also a PS2 sequel that wasn’t tied to nascar anymore, but still equally fun.
And speaking of Burnout, it wasn’t exactly my kind of game, but I used to see a lot of people playing. Paradise online was my first experience, mostly because you could ride bikes (unfortunately it was separated from the cars, so not many people would join).
Ah, this game is definitely good. If you want I can send you a message where to find this game since it’s abandonware, and I wish someone could make a remake of this game. It was very fun to play.
Speaking of fun I’ve also added this Brigador to my wishlist on Steam. Looks very interesting, and I hope I can get this game someday.
I totally agree. I also played a lot of this console in the same lan-house where I’ve played PS1 games. It had a bunch of fun games but my favorite will always be that classic game with taxis.
Another good old racing games I’ve played:
Nintendo 64:
PC (The first two I’ve had to “cross the seven seas” to “download” and play them):
Mega Drive:
PS1:
You have it on GOG.
