[Giveaway / Raffle] I wonder if any of those will work...

Hello guys,
I’d like to try hosting a giveaway.

I really liked the ones that were hosted by @ohko and I intend to parrot this template to the best of my ability. Though I’m not ohko, so rules will be a bit different

Winners will be selected by a random algorithm ( Link to my implementation btw - I’ll be grateful for all criticism and bugreports I cat get). The seed for the algorithm will be provided by the discobot.

There’s an important disclaimer though: I’m not sure if keys will work. There’s a chance some of them expired already + some may be region restricted. If that’s the case… well, tough luck. I’m sorry but no refunds :stuck_out_tongue:
If that makes you suspicious of where the keys come from - don’t worry. All keys come from Humble with their progenitor bundles coming from all over the timeline.

I think that song qualifies for “sounds happy and upbeat but lyrics are actually pretty sad”.

Thanks so much for the giveaway @Glider. Appreciate the share and the chance. :sunny:

Oh well , i can think of a lot of songs which are exactly the opposite of that

I honestly cant think of anything lol. Maybe this? Music is really upbeat but i guess lyrics could be interpreted as ‘sad’ in a way.

As for entries :

Here’s a song that sounds really upbeat but has sad lyrics:

Lyrics

The last night of the fair
By the big wheel generator
A boy is stabbed
And his money is grabbed
And the air hangs heavy like a dulling wine
She is famous
She is funny
An engagement ring
Doesn’t mean a thing
To a mind consumed by brass (money)
And though I walk home alone
I might walk home alone…
…But my faith in love is still devout
The last night of the fair
From a seat on a whirling waltzer
Her skirt ascends for a watching eye
It’s a hideous trait (on her mother’s side)
From a seat on a whirling waltzer
Her skirt ascends for a watching eye
It’s a hideous trait (on her mother’s side)
And though I walk home alone
I might walk home alone…
…But my faith in love is still devout
Then someone falls in love
And someone’s beaten up
Someone’s beaten up
And the senses being dulled are mine
And someone falls in love
And someone’s beaten up
And the senses being dulled are mine
And though I walk home alone
I might walk home alone …
…But my faith in love is still devout
This is the last night of the fair
And the grease in the hair
Of a speedway operator
Is all a tremulous heart requires
A schoolgirl is denied
She said : “How quickly would I die
If I jumped from the top of the parachutes?”

This is the last night of the fair
And the grease in the hair
Of a speedway operator
Is all a tremulous heart requires
A schoolgirl is denied
She said : “How quickly would I die
If I jumped from the top of the parachutes?”
La…
So…scratch my name on your arm with a fountain pen
(This means you really love me)
Scratch my name on your arm with a fountain pen
(This means you really love me)
Oh…
And though I walk home alone
I just might walk home alone
But my faith in love is still devout
I might walk home alone
But my faith in love is still devout
I might walk home alone
But my faith in love is still devout
La…

This one might possibly fit both criteria at the same time.
I especially like this rendition as it shows Mustaine’s incredible vocal range and flexibility.

@Danacscott 'Tis a great song, but I find myself gravitating to the Early Modern English cover…

Uh…does this count?

(hyperlinked because YouTube embed wouldn’t work for me; it only displayed the thumbnail as an image)

Lyrics translation

EDIT: If it doesn’t fit, I think I know one that fits into the earlier category (takes ~40 seconds to become upbeat though): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_D0wkLyCXE

EDIT 2: Do we need the number beside our tickets? I’ll go ahead and add it anyway, just to be safe.

Here’s a song that sounds happy or upbeat but with sad lyrics (or maybe they could be happy, it honestly depends on how you’d view it… it’s both I guess? I think the sad part is that it’s both…):

Ok, up to this point everything is good, all entries accepted and no disqualifications so far

@Norther kinda does straddle the line with a barely decipherable Metallica’s cover of a cult russian song :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: but I guess I’ll let it slide

I was keen to hear a Metallica sound I didn’t know, but all I could hear really was the crowd  Happens sometimes.
