Kinda surprised Birdgut made the list over Applewood; the former came across as a not-as-good version of the latter, just with some out-of-nowhere and not-that-well-executed twinstick-shooting mechanics awkwardly tacked on at the end. I admit the intensity theme that plays during that part is pretty good, though.
I also tried You Have To Win The Game, but at the end, you suddenly have to solve a vague riddle, which runs counter to the platforming challenges that make up the rest of the game. Plus, if you didn’t find all the clues needed to solve it, the only way out of that part is to “lose” the game, which takes away all your powerups and puts you back at the start, effectively making you play the whole game over, so I gave up.
I can vouch for Dyo and Khimera, though; those are pretty good games, though Dyo takes a while (around 11 levels) for the puzzles to start getting tricky.
But hey, it’s not my list; oh well. If it were, I probably would’ve put these on there:
EDIT: I almost missed the two honorable mentions at the bottom of that article since they’re just hyperlinks listed after the giant divider line.
Landfall Archives is a collection of every project Landfall and friends have worked on since 2016 that didn’t make it to the shelves but which all deserve to see the light of day.
