I made the mistake of updating the (Windows) GOG client and now it rapidly goes to 100% CPU use when downloading :rofl: Limiting the bandwidth in the settings slows down how fast it destroys my PC, but even at 5Mbps I can still only go for about 3 minutes (which, at 5Mbps, is around 100MB downloaded) before I have to restart GOG Galaxy (pausing the download does not reduce CPU use), and that’s if I keep it minimised to tray - if I leave it open, it CPU use grows even faster.

tl;dr: Maybe don’t update GOG Galaxy for a bit, seems it’s got some issues.

I downloaded one of those Escape Room games before updating, so at least I got to enjoy that (it was exactly as the reviews said xP). The rest might have to wait until GOG fixes its client again ;o;

Edit: Lowering the bandwidth doesn’t actually help, seems I get the same 2-3 minutes regardless of the speed (and a faster speed lets me download more in those precious minutes), after which GOG Galaxy needs to be restarted because its own CPU usage throttles its ability to download. Setting the process to Low priority, and limiting it to 2-3 cores keeps it from rendering the PC unusable when it starts to shit the bed.

@eishiya Yeah, no wonder Steam runs rings around everyone for years.

If you’re interested in a suggestion, try installing Process Lasso which will help you manage cores and priorities better.
