Thank you, i’ll let him know
Thanks @delenn13 and @CreatureFeet for the kind comments! I really appreciate it. Pixel art is super fun and relaxing!
As for @WikiTora that looks so rad! Awesome color palettes – especially second row first column imho. What are they for?
Thanks! The color palette is from various packaging from the '80, like Kodak, AGFA, etc. These box covers are made for super 8 tapes, for a personal project of mine.
Ooooooh I see! Totally awesome. If you make any more of those and feel like sharing, please do!
Oh yes, I made 12 in total. I’ll maybe share more in the future, when all pieces will come together… nicely, hopefully
I finished the thing! CLICK FOR FULL-SIZE.
Frankly I rushed through it because I was hella bored so… let me know your thoughts. I was going to animate it – waterfall, blinking frog, wind – but wasn’t feeling it.
Here is a reddit post if you want to give me useless internet points of approval.
You’re weirdly talented and I mean it in the most positive way. All these compositions are very well balanced and careless at the same time. It takes talent to do that.
I think it looks fantastic! My brain seems to have receptor sites into which pixel art fits quite snugly, I am weak to its damage type. Definitely a contributing factor in my continual return to FTL, Dungeon of the Endless, and Risk of Rain. I enjoyed Hyper Light Drifter as well, it had the most stunning visuals but the gameplay was not as much my style as the aforementioned few.
I don’t have the skill for scenes, but I’ll sometimes do a “portrait”
Somewhat related, I recently created my first font (majuscules scaled down to fit the line):
Thanks so much for the kind comment! I’m very insecure about my art so I’m always kinda fishing for compliments and approval
I LOVE HLD in all its aspects, but I can totally understand where you’re coming from. I’m still to play more FLT! And I struggle so much with the controls in Dungeon of the Endless I can’t enjoy it… my fault.
Really cool sprite you got there! What’s the red box for? 10/10 staff and moustache combo.
As for your font, it looks super stylish and Gothic! What do you plan on using it for? Is it available online?
@coralinecastell, it looks lovely indeed!
Really, everyone’s works look great too, I have no artistic feel/touch at all, so it’s tough as nails trying to do any kind of art. (Or as I had just had a major typo, “o fart.” ← Yup, that’s as much art as I can finely create.
Long time ago i’ve used to be a 'photographer ’ So here’s my deviantart page if someone interested. Though i havent touched a camera in many years now
Go touch a camera again, many of those pictures are great.
I’m stunned by Landscape by NewlyBorn on DeviantArt and how well you captured the sky, found a very nice vantage point to take the picture from.
Though heads up, you’ve chosen to put your real name(?) onto that page. Just in case you had forgotten and that wasn’t something you wanted to share here.
And your birthday appears to be the 6th of February…
Yes… well i hope i wont get assassinated
I wouldn’t worry about that too much; the same could be said for any artist who shares their work, to varying degrees of self-awareness. Otherwise they would just keep it to themselves.
FTL and DotE both have tactical pause, so even though there are keyboard shortcuts I just end up using the mouse. Both become much much harder if you forget to use tactical pause, though! The other thing that keeps sucking me into these games is that they’re relatively short. There’s something appealing about knowing you can have a complete playthrough in 1-2 days.
Reference image next to the pixel art: ta-da, it’s a philosopher’s stone! Fun fact: I found that chunk of glass in a toxic waste dump behind an abandoned glass factory (most dopants used to color glasses are quite poisonous). But do not get me started on wizards, I’ve written treatises on magic systems every bit as detailed and dry as an introduction to chemistry.
Thanks, I’m glad you like the font! I would describe it as a descendant of Textura Quadrata, with some personal touches. Using it for various wizardly projects. If you want to use it, you can download the font from my fontstruct page. Just be sure to activate kerning in your text processor of choice or it won’t look right.
I named this piece: “copystrike”.
