exactly what Zange0 says. Still encourages daily visits, but aside from missing daily coins, you can afford to miss a day without missing out on a deal.
I also do not like the idea of changing the 24 hour duration. Doubling the duration halves the variety! One deal a day makes it much more likely that you will find a hidden gem that you were unaware of or find a game that you already wanted. Making the deals last 48 hours instead makes these magical moments less likely.
However! I do like the idea of having a new featured deal every 24 hours and having the previous dayâs deal still available for purchase. That way nothing fundamental about the site has changed, but now folks have a bit of a grace period in case they are unable to (or forget) to check one day.
I prefer the 24 hour Mon-Fri for sure. The 48 Hour block for Sat and Sun is kind of cool since sometimes Iâm too busy on the weekends to check for the deal and miss out, especially during summer!
Iâm digging the innovation for sure! When a shark stops swimming it dies and all that
For example, I would have been okay with it if it happened during E3 and 1 game lasted 2 days each or something. Special events where the games last longer than 24 hours is okay. This seems like a special case, so I donât mind much at all. So long as it doesnât become common, I donât mind!
I think its fine only just if they add a new deal everydayâŚ
maybe someone want to buy that game but he/she doesnt get the chance because its sunday and cant recharge his/her card at the moment or for whatever reason.
new deals every day with 2-3 day duration.
and if this is not what you like we should atleast get more coins since we can spin only once every 3 days.
Hi. Iâm here to give feedback that was requested at the front page.
First thing I thought was that the site does not have as many deals for games anymore and they are trying to pad their empty days with 48 hour features. Of course I donât know if itâs true. It was just my first thought.
If you want to allay my fear, why not 2 games in the 48 hour feature? But I still wouldnât recommend that becauseâŚ
Coming to chrono.gg is a daily activity. Getting the daily coins and checking the new game go hand in hand. Sure, I will still get the daily coins. But the surprise of a new game every day is nice.
Also, I know this might be controversial. But the imagined scarcity of a game only being offered for 1 day probably drives sales. We donât know if it will be offered again, and there is a time limit. 2 days might be too long if a potential buyer were to procrastinate until the next day and decide not to buy it (or forget about it).
If you were testing to see how this would drive sales. I recommend having two sale categories. 24 hour game (the original method) and 48 hour game (this feature test).
Lastly. If this becomes regular, you will have to change the catch phrase on your site âA new deal every day.â
Definitely go back to 24hrs.
Everyone has been in a routine over these last 494 days and this is what sets chrono.gg apart from being just another indie site with deals or just another 48hr running star deal from fanatical or whatever.
I agree with some of the others here in saying that deals could last 48hrs and overlap, but having a new deal and coin click every day is the core gimmick and entire point of this.
Iâd be fine with deals lasting an extra day. Each day should have a new deal though with the previous dayâs deal smaller on the side or along the notice bar at the top.
If you wanted to do 48hr deals only, Iâd say its fine for a limited period of time.
I donât think itâs possible for Chrono to give a full disclosure about the change if it is indeed anything more than an experiment. Logically it could be for any number of reasons - imagine the difficulty in reaching out to a large and potentially new audience in time if your deals expire daily. Itâd prove incredibly difficult to achieve that marketing penetration effectively and adding extra time allows them that period to advertise each deal more effectively. Perhaps itâs because developers/publishers want more exposure? Maybe sourcing a new deal every day is incredibly difficult? Or perhaps the blurb that accompanies each game is too hard to conjure up on a 24 hour cycle. Or maybe itâs just to do with the 48 hour working time directive that exists in Europe (itâs not that).
Ultimately it would be interesting for a little bit more explanation from those who object about their strength of negativity surrounding this change.
I think itâs been pretty decently explained. Simply the case that doubling the time span of each offer halves the discovery aspect of this site. Since weâre not furnished with any actual information we can only react to what is immediately presented to us. So requiring any in depth analysis from a critic seems unfair and pointless.
Have you seen the strength of objection that some of made? Merely reducing the release rate really doesnât explain that negativity. Plus there are lots of other alternative sources to discover new games.
