As I said elsewhere, while I too find it hard to not feel like the citizens are to some extent responsible for the actions of their nation, I do find myself agreeing with the ideas here. Banning, kicking and lashing out at russians just for being russian is not helpful, it does not help hamper the war effort and it seems very unlikely to engender any good will in the people.

I watched The Oscars yesterday (and I regretted it) and they were average overall, and this event was irrelevant until this moment.
It was a sad moment which illustrates how deep the Oscars felt.

Did Chris Rock deserve a beating hell yes. Should two of them had this incident on stage? Perhaps not.
Bottom line. Chris Rock is pro comedian. He should have a ton of jokes in his arsenal that didn’t have to go to pick on a woman’s hair. Could say a lot more but meh, bad time, bad he deserved two slaps.

No one deserves to be beaten up for telling a joke, no matter how bad or tasteless. Think what you want about what someone says and say whatever you want in return, responding with violence should never be tolerated.

Looking at it that way, he deserved a lesson of some kind. What would you suggest instead?
And yeah, look up Good Hair and Chris Rock. He knows better, just utter disrespect. I’ve seen comedians roasted and heckle audience members, but ah well, he knows better.

it’s not a joke about hair though, not when the cause of the hair cut is a disease. 100% deserves to be slapped in the face for that, even though ofc I won’t condone it. doesn’t change he deserves it
so even though i wouldn’t condone it, he 100% deserves it, and I 100% understand why a husband would slap the other guy cuz the husband knows how often his wife cries and is depressed cuz she no longer can have whatever hair she wants, which must affect their life on a daily basis cuz her having to deal with that must deeply affect the husband and the kids as well.
also, boohoo a guy got slapped; meanwhile Ukrainians and Yemenis and I don’t know who else still get bombed on a daily basis, but somehow this is important
