What do you read/watch/play/listen to when you want to boost your mood?

I’ve been really down lately and have been thinking about this a lot lately, and I’m curious as to how everyone deals with feeling low and what helps them most, if anything.

WHAM (or other 80’s/90’s early 2000’s) band montage!! (Totally did this before guardians of the galaxy!)

Can I also recommend watching Eddie Izzard or Robin Williams Comedy?

Also, it isn’t the best when in a ‘low’ mood, but I really like Kyle Kinane.

OH WAIT! Watch the music videos of Ok Go! (any of them are amazing)

I write stories, and keep playlists of music that fits each of the big ones. Listening to those helps take my mind off whatever’s going on, and gets me into a writing mood, so I can turn the bad times into something at least a little productive.

I also stream a lot of trashy horror and action movies when I’m in a bad mood. It’s especially helpful if I’m upset about something irrational, since it lets me channel that rage into snarking on the films.

If you need something instant, here you go:

(or better yet, try the whole album.)

I read a bunch of sad poems and stuff at first and then inspirational stuff - listen to some lighthearted music. Chat to some friends.
And watch stuff like this that just has such pure humanity:

To lighten my mood I used to listen to Joy Division (saw them twice. Yeah, I’m old! ), Durutti Column, Eno, and loads more. I stopped listening to music a few years ago though. Gave away my hi-fi too. I then went back to gaming. I had stopped playing games for 10+ years. It’s been nice catching up

Phil Collins always makes me feel a bit better (relaxed if nothing else). I swear that dude has the voice of an angel.
I generally just drown myself in nostalgic stuff when I get real down.

Reading it’s hard to say because it’s barely always classics wich are new to me, last one was Moby Dick, previous to that some works of Jean Paul Sartre and so on, anything goes if it’s good.

depends on the degree of my mood i think
i usually first go to “happy music”, whatever rando title i can remember at the moment, or stuff like Disney songs for instance, caleb hyles covers, whatever “jolly” thing works
then, probably Disney Movies/cartoons/fairy tales something cheerful with happy endings even if it might be totally “unrealistic” lol
Robin Williams movies, comedies, romcoms, whatever, even Good Luck Chuck, doesn’t really matter, happy and stupid, the more the better
For games i used to use WoW there, but since i quit that’s more random, -don’t really have i “to go to happy game” per se

and if i’m really starting to dip low, stuff like What Dreams May Come, fantasy movies (lotr, eragon, Marvel/Iron Man etc), or things like The Notebook, the Time Traveler’s Wife or other sappy romantic movies

and ofc if everything just sucks it’s just time to wallow and dive in deep with things like
Schindler’s list, Grave of the Fireflies, you know, sad af sht because now it’s just time for a fcn cry anyway

Usually, I go for some soundgarden in the background, and either mount and blade or freeman: guerilla warfare.

If I am really down, different situation I do different things. Sometimes I draw Zentangle, Sometimes I love coloring Mandala. Often time I ask Access Consciousness’ questions (e.g. How does it get any better than this? What else is possible? Universe shows me something beautiful today? Who does this belongs to? just listed a few of the questions… the concept is not to know or given an answer to our questions, the main point is to suck in all the resources from the universe and be there to uplift the situation, for you. Or return the energies to its senders). I also enjoy looking at Osho Zen / transformation cards, reading the cards and its stories helped me immensely. :hugs:

Write on a cardboard to give free hug to people sounds awesome too, though I have never tried. Thanks for inspiring me to try this next time I will be down/depressed.

A lot of metal. Yeah, it’s agressive and etc., but listening to something happy does not make me feel good when I am down, it just seems fake.
