The shop is almost empty!

With Slayaway and Dropsy both passing 90% the store will be empty soon. Will it stay empty for a bit or are there planes to always have something to get? If the shop stays empty for a bit you might run into a problem with games not being able to keep of with the amount of coins out there. Games would be added and very quickly sold out again. If you raise the price of games you one devalue the coin and make it harder for new people to get games. Just some thoughts for the future from a curious consumer with an interest in economics. I would love to hear others opinions

I’ve been thinking the same. Maybe just putting a lot of cheap games and one expensive could work out?, I really don’t know what they should do but I’m pretty sure they’re doing their best (don’t know how they finance this).

Not only are there planes, but there are also trains and automobiles to always have something to get. :relaxed:

To be honest, I feel like our demand is too high. I don’t want the shop to be in danger of lack of sustainability. I mean, we’re fine this year, but I don’t know how this will work in the very long-run. Like say a year or two later. I mean, I’m guessing higher price floors will be introduced, but at the same time, it also needs to be accessible to everyone. Our fluctuating demand, and our capability of collecting so many coins concerns me. Not to mention if the coin collecting becomes reduced, we’ll grab torches and pitchforks, even though the actual value is completely determined by the set of games’ respective price floors. I really want this shop to remain a success! I dun wanna go back to MyNintendo… WAAAAAAAH!

Ya I want this to work to. Its no surprise that it is so popular it is a fair consumer friendly way to get free games. I have told of few of my friend about it and they love it and agree that is easy and fair.

It’s human nature to start to be worried, unsure or perhaps even skeptical when something is “too good” but even with everyone demanding games on an almost day-to-day basis, they’ve been able to keep 99.9% of us happy - so even if this is just a passing phase in which the glory days we know of will eventually come to end, just enjoy it for now.

Nothing lasts for ever.

My thoughts exactly. Running this shop is very difficult from my speculations, especially since games aren’t really free from the publisher and Chrono.gg’s side. I mean sure, there’s the added marketing benefit, and raising more awareness of the daily deals, and more people are posting in the forums now (thus bigger community), but… Dang our demand is way too high. I mean, if Nintendo refuses to offer eShop keys for MyNintendo (they offered three games in total, if you even count one of them), then imagine how hard it is for Chrono.gg to pull this off?

That said, they are doing an incredible job offering more and more for the time being. So I’ll enjoy it while it’s here. Just like you said. Don’t take it for granted.

It just comes down to whether or not the prospect of free games attracts more paying customers or not. It’s a given that almost all of the new visitors are here for the free stuff and will probably never buy anything. If the small percentage of people is enough to make it worth it, they will keep this going.

There is a game for 250 coins? Typo or are we gonna have a game that sells out in 6 seconds?

Personally I reckon you should just increase the prices. Simple economics. If the shop soon becomes flooded with games due to less demand, more variety is never bad. Also gives you a break from finding developer’s willing to strike a deal with you if you need it. I’d say the top tier game could even be double what it is now.

I have said that all along, but watch for the wrath of the community!

Natanel: Not quite that simple. Attracting more paying customers applies to the publisher involved with the current daily deal. And unless Chrono.gg can prove that offering keys for the shop will have customers interested in buying their games in a future daily deal, getting a supply for the shop will involve a LOT of prodding to the publishers.

PeteMcc: My huge concerns exactly! 2500 coins didn’t slow us down that much (was hoping each set of 2-3 games would last at least 10 weeks), and 250 is just something that will sell out in seconds. Unless it’s a game nobody wants (which is extremely unlikely).

intimid: Might be a good idea, but the community will DEFINITELY be furious like what PeteMcc said. These forums and Twitter will be flooded with hate. But it may be a necessary “evil” (and I say that with quotes) because they can only spend so much time prodding publishers.

It might not be a popular opinion, but what about a coin cap?

As in, once you get to, say, 6000 coins, your streak pauses and you can’t accrue any more coins each day.

Then, when you spend coin, you can resume collecting coins… That way, even if someone just stockpiled coins, it would never get to a point where they were so far ahead that no one could catch up to them.

This is a reasonable option.

This is actually pretty stupid.
If someone has stockpilled 6000 coins that means he claimed NONE of the games previous to him reaching 6k. There is no difference between in getting a couple games right now and getting them later. In the end its his loss and your win. An uncapped coin amount doesnt offer any advantage because you dont know what games will be available for free in the future. In the end you might have been saving for nothing and it ends up that the better games are made available when you chose not to get them.

All you need to do is to click your bookmark daily and get some coins in the end. I don’t get why people get so salty over the matter. Maybe they are children. I got my copy of Dustforce and now i have 4k and im waiting for the next offers. Also if i were the owner of this place i wouldn’t pander to people that complain about getting free games because this kind of people will never contribute to the store by buying anything they are only here to demand more free stuff.

I have 6000 coins currently and purchased Hammerhead which I believe was 1000 coins a while back…

I’m wondering how quickly claimed the new game in the store that’s priced at 250 coins is going to be when it’s finally revealed. A couple seconds maybe? lol
