For me, any idea how to conquer a phobia of one particular many legged thing?
I can deal with most bugs, even laugh if a house lizard lands on my head by accident. Last night I had a panic attack after a way too close counter with a “wedo not name it, we do not speak of it”,
It was rough of others in house. What can I do? Clearly 'exposure therapy ’ ain’t it.
I knew someone a long time ago who was afraid of certain bugs.
Real doctors probably use new methods. But I think they had her first look at pictures of the bug. If that was too much, they used pictures of “parts” of the bug to find out what specifically she was fearful of.
Example: A picture with only 8 legs. A picture with only fangs/mouth. A picture of only eyes. A picture of the bug butt. Etc.
I think that helped focus on the specific part of her fear. Then they started using pictures with some parts together. legs + eyes. fangs + butt. etc.
Eventually she was able to touch pictures of the bug.
There might have been some imagination therapy of her closing her eyes while imagining the bug somewhere far far far away.
I have no idea how it turned out since it was a long time ago and that person disappeared.
Edit: Wait. I feel like I wrote something like this before? Maybe it was on another forum.
Ew. I hate all the tiny legs. I hate that they are so quiet and easily sneak up on me They are snakes with legs which is wrong. Sniff. I don’t mind snakes
Here we have of late smaller reddish ones, but in more countrified places, there are massive, fat black or orange ones. Shudder.
I don’t even like seeing them in games. Conversely, centipedes are not that horrible. Usually hear them too, before you see them.
On we have Christmas worms too, same family, but flat. Those I got used to seeing.
I’m gonna be playing/showcasing a whole bunch of new (new-ish) games for about a week or even a bit more (possibly mixed with some Indiana Jones sprinkled in) on stream from today
there’s these (except for Tankhead, which I’ve done already) but then there’s like 4 more or so:
