Steam Summer Sale 2018 - Salien Minigame

21015 was a good a year :robot:

-youā€™re right, that game was actually fun to play, even without a clicker
so many upgrades powerups and fun stuff to mess around with to make it feel at least minimally decent of a game to play

Whatā€™s this bot everyone is talking about?

I assume itā€™s an autoclicker bot that you can use for casual clicker gamesā€¦ a lot of people use them apparently.

At one point I played a bit of Clicker Heroes and I thought I would try to use it too, but then I stopped playing and didnā€™t look further into itā€¦

itā€™s a PHP script that completely automates you ā€œplayingā€ the gameā€¦

itā€™s set and forget kind of thing, you can also set multiple strategies on it, so you can maximize point gain, or planet completion, whatever, you just need 2 hands and the ability to edit textā€¦

Iā€™ve been gone since Friday so quick question: what time (and timezone) do the planets reset each day? Traditionally itā€™s always been 9PST or 10PST, but I just got back this morning from a trip and did some basic goofing off at 7am and the planets donā€™t seem to have reset 5 hours later.

Figured Iā€™d ask yā€™all hardcore gamers! :poop:

(Unrelated) Kathleen Dunbar is a pretty funny comedian.

I do not think they reset. They each have areas that progressively get conquered by the players/bots/whatever. When all zones are done, the planet is ā€œconqueredā€ thus it ends, and new ones replace it. Some of the planets stay around for a bit longer, perhaps nobody wants to enter for those games, or some other unknown reason.

You can go here to see which ones have completed and what the upcoming ones are.

But itā€™s really not a timing thing. The same time as you mentioned above, 10 PST is the time that the discovery queue awards and the Salien daily card drops refresh, so you can get your new cards for the event at that time or after every day.

This is merely what I have concluded from looking at the sale event by myself, I havenā€™t done any searches or anything to really find out the truthā€¦

so far it only looks like that planets get replaced when itā€™s been actually conquered in full. Otherwise if a single tile is still missing the time seem like it keeps ticking

Pimpinā€™ it!

So okay, this is perhaps as far as Iā€™ll go.

steam doesnt know what is doing anymore, this shitty not for humans game isnt engaging anyone that wasnt super involved with the sale already, and it might even put off new ppl that joinā€¦

Still waiting for Saliens 3.

Itā€™s spelled U-P-G-R-A-Y-E-D-D

I havenā€™t purchased anything from the saleā€¦ yet, but Iā€™ve atleast gone up to level 7 for now. Still deciding if itā€™s sane to try and go for level 9 to get the 3rd level Badge. I know itā€™s doable as a few of the folks on here has managed to do so, but Iā€™m just speaking for my personal sanity as getting more exp. on this ā€œMeanieā€ game is just exasperating.

And I still stand by my post a few comments up, where I said the 2015 Summer Idle Clicker game was better than this Saliens affair.

By leaps and bounds, that was at least a fully fledged clicker game. This is some sort of half baked combo of a clicker without scaling and a tower defence without towers. Thereā€™s no progression, the couple of extra powers you eventually unlock is nowhere near enough to make the game neither interesting nor much easier. Honestly do not really see how youā€™d be meant to fight a hard square with the tools the game provides. Unless Iā€™ve missed an ability to upgrade your base some how.

@Fraggles
No upgrade ability, but a few of the folks who posted their own thoughts on this meanie game do suggest using scripts. Not that I know how to use them myself though

the xp table that got posted 100% confirmed this game was intentionally meant to be ā€œplayedā€ either using a full on bot script or at least a clicker
past a certain lvl there is just no way, even with all the upgrades, that you could manually ā€œsustainā€ to get that amount of xp and still have your mouse/or hand ā€œintactā€
and now that they also increased the speed on the hard tiles, even more so. -hell just with a clicker itā€™s not even entirely an afk/chill walk in the park now there :man_shrugging:

I guess some folks have an addictive nature - my suggestion is to ignore the game entirely for those people, and limit your plays to 3 attempts/day for everyone else (5 minutes of your time to collect $0.03 x3 cards, :unamused: ). Same goes for summer deals: if itā€™s not a game youā€™re guaranteed going to play in the next 3 months, donā€™t bother buying. Itā€™ll be on sale again in the fall, then again in the winter. Exercise some self-control!

think iā€™m just gonna leave this game clarification/reminder again here

:+1:
no need to use more than 5secs if all you want is the cards

Just wondering (slight tangent)ā€¦do you buy cards on the Marketplace to complete your badges? Because boy, do you accumulate new trophies fastā€¦

nope, well, not usually, maybe if iā€™m 1 card short from a full set because of inconsistent booster pack drops or getting a foil instead of regular drop or something,
but otherwise not really (unless i somehow want X really specific badge for some obscure/weird reason lol)

:+1:
i just idle my ā€œfull setā€ games/games i know i can get a badge from, and then trade/swap the dupes, and save them all for the steam events, summer/holiday, -so i get the bonus when crafting badges there instead of just randomly throughout the year
thatā€™s why you see all my games+badges popping recently
