So sorry.

I streaked in University…did you?

I think you will need some kind of farewell message…

I did go to university and no I did not. I don’t know where you are from but I am gonna assume America and I find that university where I live (Australia) is a very different culture than over there, and, you know I am a complete introvert and would never think of doing that In my life. Also I just read your bio, and if your age in the bio is true I take back my statement about being older and bow to my elder and superior.

Yes, it’s true. I am American but I live in Canada.I met my Canadian husband on the net about 20 years ago on IRC. We have been married 18 years now.

IRC, what a wonderful thing that I was not apart of (congrats on the 18 years btw)

Yea, even there I was one of the oldest ones on chat. I ran 3 scifi channels and 2 beginner channels and had a “protection bot” that my husband and I made.

Wow, nice and I am gonna assume most of the people here may not know what IRC is (I am in my late 20’s). I sort of dabbled in a bit of

but in more of

I think this might add some more confusion to the mix

Still remember the UIN by heart : )

Also I’m still on IRC, on several active networks.

Very much disagree on the ASL thing, we hated when new people showed up with that awful start to a conversation. We don’t care about either of those letters, well L is somewhat important but also self evident very quickly.

Just show up and start chatting, if you’re an interesting person to talk to then what does your age or sex matter? Internet was a great equalizer early on and can still be, ideas and arguments mattered identity doesn’t. Then all the non-nerds started showing up and fouled the place up demanding special consideration for who they thought they were and insisting they had value beyond what they actually brought to a community and … well never mind.

I hated it too. But back in 1993 it was usually the first thing you were asked. I had a lot of kids on my channels and they all called me Mom. They knew I would look out for them. On the #beginner channels I taught them how to be safe on the net and how to ignore ppl etc plus how to use mIRC.The sci fi channels were different…It was more of a conversation and what show/movies you liked. Once the CD ripping and mp3 downloading thingy started in the late 90’s, no one wanted to learn anything but how to do that.

I agree with both of you. I hated it so much, but in the early 90’s a/s/l was almost always the first thing asked

How to be safe on the internet 93 edition: Don’t tell anyone your name, phone number or where you live.
05 edition: Why not post pictures of your children openly online with full names and adress attached along with their school schedules and where they like hanging out in the afternoons.

Meanwhile I quickly realised that there MIGHT have been some sort of personal information attached to that UIN I posted and quickly checked up on that to ensure that wasn’t the case. Did you know ICQ actually still exists and your old account is still active?

When you aren’t home…

I never had a ICQ account. I was on mIRC pretty much 24/7 or at least hanging out in my bot and watching ALL my channels.ICQ was an intrusion to me.

I remember Prozzak using ICQ sound effects in a song.

Get some Windex cause I’m streaking!
2nd month cleared now. Been getting a little less in the chests this time around than I got the first month except for the 30 day one which gave over 300 coins more so I think it made up the difference.

I think we kind of derailed this thread the other week with thousands dead as a result, so I figured it’d be a great place for some necromancy.
