I know a while back I got the Witcher 1 for free off gog galaxy through a promo from buying gwent, is that still available? One of my friends would like to get it.

Doesn’t seem to be the case any more (although I may well be missing something). However, it’s regularly on sale on Steam so if you can wait a while you’ll be able to grab it with a good discount -

Hook up your account to Gwent! They fairly recently did another promo where they gave it away for linked accounts. They may do it again. If not, they regularly put it on sale for under $2 for GOG and Steam.

They’ve been giving out TW1 since Gwent Beta. Tell your friend to install Gwent and check its Galaxy page, one of the promos back then was to subscribe to its newsletter and get TW1.

Well, I just thought you/your friend would like to know that Humble Bundle has a sale going on right now where the first game is $1.49 if the above Gwent registration doesn’t work anymore.
