Shall I put everyone out of their misery then?
It’s Final Fantasy 8.
It’s a bit of a mess of a game tbh. I thought the “whilst petals become feathers” part was a brilliant inclusion as that is a rather striking aesthetic thing in the game and promo material, your initial “flowers become petals” didn’t make much sense though. : )

I don’t really want to bother writing up another one for now so I’m leaving the floor open to any who fancies it

I was so gonna say that!!!

totally gonna say that!

jk, I only played a small part of FF8 and couldn’t pick up a lot of what was going on

Yeah…I messed that up because I wasn’t thinking straight. So (possible spoilers)

Puzzle explanations

Scarred by rivalry - Squall has a giant scar on his face caused by a duel with Seifer in the opening.
Turbulent protagonist - a squall is a sudden violent gust of wind
Passes the test - SeeD field exam
Kidnapping - President Delling mission which Rinoa hires you for.
Rivals become Knights - Seifer becomes the sorceress’ “Knight”
Does John die at the end - See the Squall Dies controversy
Random basement dwellers - NORG living in the garden basement. How did no-one realise sooner?
True purpose is revealed - the Garden’s are basically the Sorceress defence force.
Fishing rod - reference to Fisherman’s Horizon
Reminisce - the party were all coincidentally at the same orphanage, although they all seem to be missing memories
Pull the trigger - gunblade reference

Petals become feathers - heavy symbolism
Dance at the end - self explanatory.

Curiously, @kylehayman361 has 26 hours of game time on this one.

Well to be fair it’s a pretty long slow game so he probably didn’t get that far into it.

I think that this is probably the main problem! :stuck_out_tongue:

“Name the Game”

also known as

@Fraggles Destroys Everyone’s Morale by Wiping the Floor With Chronies’ Ass and Guessing Everything Right Straight Off the Batch as Though He Were Multivac* Itself”

*

Multivac is the name of a fictional supercomputer appearing in several science fiction stories by American writer Isaac Asimov. According to his autobiography In Memory Yet Green, Asimov coined the name in imitation of UNIVAC, an early mainframe computer. Asimov had assumed the name “Univac” denoted a computer with a single vacuum tube (it actually is an acronym for “Universal Automatic Computer”), and on the basis that a computer with many such tubes would be more powerful, called his fictional computer “Multivac”. His later short story “The Last Question”, however, expands the AC suffix to be “analog computer”. Source: Wikipedia.

That means ‘congratulations on getting yet another game guessed correctly. You’re awesome and I have no idea as to how you do it since I’m a clueless potato.’ :+1:

So nobody’s gonna write a new one? Fine, guess I’ll do it :man_shrugging:

This is a fairly easy one - for those mere mortals who don’t possess @Fraggles puzzle solving skills and encyclopedic knowledge of games. Maybe it will give someone new a chance to participate:

Journal Entry - Day 3: I’ve been down here a few days and things aren’t getting any easier. Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about how random the universe can be. The other day, I was innocently checking out a pot when something jumped out and startled me. I threw my trusty boomerang at it, but my aim was a bit off and I hit a merchant instead. I intended to apologize, but the guy was a total dick and wouldn’t even give me the chance. He started chasing me around until he accidentally impaled himself on a spike and died. On the bright side, I now have his shotgun.

Or we could just start sharing quinoa recipes

k gonna make this very ez too:

You find yourself on a road with just the clothes on your back, you don’t rly know how u got here. You hear gunfire in the distance; then silence. You find a house but there is no one there, so you enter and look around, you find a gun and some ammunition. You move on, from house to house, scavenging what u can; there are no ppl here at all, so strange. Suddenly, you see someone approach, but they walk funnily, maybe they are drunk? “Hey Mister, can I help you?”

“Aaargh, arrrgh.” He just stumbles upon you and tries to take a bite out of your face. You push him back and put a bullet in their head. That will teach them. You move on and then you hear something. You look around the corner and see another person, you do not hesitate and shoot, but you miss. They duck behind some cover and yell, “Friendly, friendly…”

What happens next depends on you…
