Oh, okay. It‘s called first and second christmas day here. The 24th is Heiligabend - Christmas Eve. No idea why there are two christmas days, though.
None can contain the holiday cheer
Depending a little who you ask, there’s 12 or 13 days of Christmas. Most of western christianity would say 12 with Christmas day being the first day of Christmas. Here in the north we say 13 days and consider Christmas eve the first day. Christmas ends on the 13th day (Epiphany) which falls on the 6th of January I believe.
There’s a load of bollocks added as meaning to the different days of Christmas on how it’s supposedly associated with various events surrounding the birth of Christ and other biblical events.
And isn‘t the sixth the orthodox christmas? Nevermind, let‘s not delve too deep into theology and shit.
and a festive Saturnalia to you all
Bah, humbug. Saturn is just the hip and modern take on Cronus. Youths just can’t handle the chaos, cruelty and disorder of the old Titans.
A Festivus for the rest-of-us!
merry christmas to all who enjoy it! we had no snow again! … lend me yours
Why would anyone get offended by anything you’d wish them?
We all know that we celebrate the time that holy Saint Nicholas (aka the nearly headless Nick) and his polar bear Steve defeated the Krampus in a game of Monopoly, on the day of Saturnalia in 892 AD.
That’s why Coca Cola (founded exactly 1000 years after the event) is so big on the holiday and adopted Santa and the polar bear as seasonal mascots, and it’s also the reason why we all play Monopoly and other board games with our families on the holiday evenings.
So a happy Anti-Krampus Day, y’all! Have a Coke, and get mad at your loved ones for kicking your ass at Monopoly! I appreciate every single one of you!
Would it help if it was called Peasants Day? It’s the day where all the toffs gave all their boxes of scraps(leftovers) and/or money to the peasants who worked for them or delivered goods/services to their home.
Happy Peasants Day, Everyone?
Yeah, I can see why they said Boxing Day.
I hope you have enjoyed the festive season, errybody
