it’s when the system “changes”/edits your post, happens automatically when posting images gifs or other things that get autocorrected to fit the forum’s discourse format thingy
pencil = “edit” notification, and “system” is “who done it”, in this case the automated forum formatting
it also happens when someone, (naughtily) edits your topics titles … then you get a “edit” notification saying @User123698745 “added xy tags” to your thread, or @CptMold “corrected” the (clickbait) title 
etc
