TLDR: I have ~250 steam keys to give away. I setup a google form to try and make it fair
Hello there,
Long time lurker, first time poster. I love video games and I love to buy them. Often times I end up buying them as part of a bundle because it’s cheaper. I don’t always want every game in said bundle or already own some them. That has left me with about 10 years worth of steam keys laying around from humble bundles, humble choice, fanatical bundles, etc. Rather than have them just go to waste, I figured I’d share them with this community this holiday season. I’ve got around 250 steam keys and a handful of the current amazon prime GOG keys that I’d be happy to give out to anyone who wants them. I’ve also got some time off work the next couple of weeks that I can dedicate to organizing things.
I’ve been trying to think of the most fair way to give them away to ensure that lots of people can get what they want that’s not super time/time zone dependent, and without it being too much of a hassle for everyone. What I ended up doing was creating a Google form listed below so that people can mark any games they’d be interested in getting. I made it so you do have to log in to a google account, but I made sure it doesn’t collect emails or anything, just doing it to keep it to single submissions that are editable (let me know if that becomes a problem and we can work around it). People can mark down as many games as they want (although if you mark down absolutely everything, I’ll probably throw that response out) and if you’re the only person who wants the game, it’s yours. If multiple people want it, I’ll use a randomizer to chose between the all people who wanted it. I’ll give people about a week to submit it, then I’ll DM out the keys. I was trying to come up with the most fair way to do this so that it’s not a race and bots won’t just grab the keys. I want this to be a nice fun thing and don’t want to stir up any trouble. I know this is a geographically diverse group, so not sure if region effects anything for steam/gog keys, but I’m in the US if that matters.
Let me know if there are any questions, issues with anything, or suggestions on how to do this better.
