Why does the game have a price tag when it’s marked “Free to Play”?
I honestly don’t like to get games this way because it doesn’t feel legit. Tried to look up if there were any announcements of it going f2p or being given away, doesn’t look like there’s any.
I already had it, but never played it, as is the case with many of my games on Steam…
@YQMaoski It has a free on demand license, so you can add it to your account once you click “install”.
I also haveca bunch of games I have yet to play, both free and paid, so you’re not alone.
Doesn’t that mean the store price should be “Free to Play”?
It shows up as $14.99 for me.
This doesn’t seem to say anything about it being free, which is odd.
The store tag I am talking about is here:
I found a thread which helps explain it:
The developer has recently added a so-called free on demand license for the game (this: https://steamdb.info/sub/571003/). This licence allows you to add something to your account for free (free-to-play games also use this type of license), but this license is not visible in the Steam store in this case (the paid license is), otherwise the game would appear as free-to-play on the store.
However, you can add it to your account if you know the id number of the free to play license (link above). SteamDB is just a website to make this easier (you can also do it without SteamDB).
And why it has a free on demand license:
Could be that they are preparing to go free to play soon. It sometimes happens that this is set in motion a bit earlier behind the scenes and they switch publicly later.
But since we don’t know for sure, there is no harm in adding it to your account now. If it goes indeed free to play, you have a free to play game. If it doesn’t go free to play, you have a paid game for free.
Still, feels kind like a loophole instead… Like @Enki said above, feels kind of like a bugged system…
I guess we will see once the game exits Early Access, maybe it will survive on F2P and with paid DLCs.
Well, I can add it, can’t run/install it…
If you click at the link above in @carvalho20ptc 's OP, you will come to the SteamDB page for this package, you can click on the Green Install button:
It should add the game to your library and bring up the install window on the client. I am not entirely sure if you need to be logged into SteamDB or not, but you will need your Steam client running for sure.
For people who are curious, there seems to be, in fact, a free-on-demand package that the developer/publisher put up with a completely different SubID, about a day ago, so it seems to be legit and not a loophole exploit:
So, @Enki , I think you are safe if you want to claim this copy.
Clicking install on the site opened the store page on my steam client, but did not add the game to my library. Unless I’m doing something wrong, this may have been changed already.
Maybe this has something to do with it, or it’s just pure coincidence. I don’t know how long is the whole process of making a product on steam free on demand, in case it is simple, could be that a developer had their account stolen and it was made free. They haven’t pronounced themselves on the matter yet, so we’ll never know.
Hmm… maybe it was a mistake…
Did not think of this, I guess they would be a target for something like this.
I think it’s because I have an unsupported OS.
It’s in my Steam library. I just could not install it. I got the ‘not available for your platform’ dialog box popup. It is there though. I have many games like this.
Personally I dont do these sorts of offers very often
I have to log onto the pc after all and often I only have mobile access xP too much work haha
The whole preparing for free to play seems strange though
Steam has finally updated with the free to play button. But still no real announcements from the devs
They beat you to it:

Yeah, there was no announcements yet when I checked, even went out of my way to check their twitter.
