" And there’s more. Nintendo is also giving away 1943: The Battle of Midway for free as well, as part of Capcom Arcade Stadium. But this download won’t expire on Thursday and you should be able to download it at any time."
Unfortunately, you can’t do that. I can’t recall if it was the same with PSN, but you need to have a Switch tied to your account before they let you purchase and redeem Switch games. (The same goes for 3DS and Wii U games.)
I’ll go check the switch store later I think I cant get the links to work cuz in the uk but i do have a US account lol just for free stuff unless there is a uk link but like yea i will check later haha
There are free games for nintendo switch that are regional haha most of it rubbish but yeah not so much timed freebies
But with my Japan account for example I managed to get the free games in japan as well some train game thing and a noodle game for example as well as you can get niconico japans “YouTube” and other things
I’m not sure how useful my US account has been tbh lol but it’s there for the few things
So you use country-specific VPNs whenever you log into the non-local accounts I presume?
But can you play games tied to non-local accounts on a stock Switch though? I would expect not.
I can confirm that PSN does not require a linked console to claim freebies - I don’t own a Sony console and I’ve claimed a few. Unlikely to ever use it considering there are several games on my Xbox 360 that I still haven’t played.
You don’t need vpn the switch is region free so you can play non local games as much as you want. You can even buy other country games if you have gift code or that but it’s harder
Hmm… so that would mean claiming freebies on the eShop may be restricted to certain regions based on IP but if you manage to claim them via VPN, you can then play them on a Switch without using one? Confusing policies.
Out of curiosity, does the Switch allow you to switch (no pun intended) between different Nintendo accounts on a single console quite easily (as opposed to some complex “migration” process I mean)?
You just have to be logged into the right nintendo account for the region I think so if I visit nintendo com with uk account it doesn’t work. I could log out and log in again with the correct account and I think it should work without vpn for claiming but I haven’t tried. It just automatically defaults to whatever you logged in on.
Yea everytime you log into eshop on the switch or use a app it prompts u which user account you want to use(was annoying at first lol). In the case of the eshop it then sends u to the eshop of that region linked to the user account.
Switching is much easier on the console than pc and the passwords r saved and everything so u dont need to keep logging in. I think generally things are easier to claim through the switch device than pc.
And once u downloaded a game or whatever to the switch you can play it using any user account you like.
