I recently replayed this game. Surprisingly fun little indie title. At first, I found the game to be quite difficult, but once I figured it out it’s quite chill. Some tips:

Ranks are extremely important because each one gives you an upgrade, and you can earn two per level. If you haven’t earned your 2nd rank for the level, it’s worth hanging around the exit and fighting until you’ve ranked up (the game does not end after it gets dark, there is merely a second wave of stronger enemies).

Energy is the most abundant ammo type. You want your primary weapon to use energy. The best energy weapon is Mr. Beam. It has incredible range, accuracy, damage, low ammo use, etc.

Get and use as many Energy+ modules as you can! Once you have them, your energy ammo constantly increases and you no longer have to worry about running out of energy ammo.

Bullets seem to be the second most-abundant and efficient ammo type. A Minigun (especially after Mech Tech Upgrade Card that improves its ammo use rate), the Assault Rifle (T-Gun is an assault rifle but it’s too ammo-hungry), and the Sniper Rifle (after the general upgrade that improves damage) are all good choices.

Mech Tech Upgrade Cards (the upgrades between levels)
-Focus on health-type upgrades if you see them. Bio-Fusion Wrench, chloroplast armor, etc.
-Slower enemy bullets (Time Warp) really help you dodge.
-The upgrade that boosts bullet capacity actually increases all ammo capacities.

You buy Cartridges from the vendor (orange portal).
-For Active Cartridges I like Force Screen and Cerberus (triples your pet for a bit).
-For Passive Cartridges I like Savvy Slot (extra upgrade per level), Medical Degree, Blitzcut Chip, and Backup Plan.

Someone already grabbed the flag code, just to save anyone else from going through the bother of finding the key already used.

Do you want a key @Fraggles ?

Not terribly much so actually, mostly just got intrigued by the puzzle the flags offered and tried it out without thinking too much about what the game was. Reading up on it it’s a twinstick shooter which is not a genre I am particularly enthused with.

Thanks for the offer though.

Is there some way to authenticate a steam key without actually using it somehow?

As far as i know - no. When you think about it only steam can verify it’s own keys and i’m pretty sure they are not offering such option.

The function of verification of keys contradicts to the purpose of the very keys, at least in Steam’s eyes, I believe.

I guess so… Part with most game stores is that you have a way to redeem, but not “mark as used”.

One good thing Indiegala does is that keys automatically get marked as “Gifted or trade”.
Groupees lets you “mark as used”, and so does DIG. I wish all stores had this. >>

I mean, alternately, you could just reveal everything as key or gift, stick them in a Notepad or some such and cross them off as you go, but that’s super tedious too.

The giveaway is still up btw, gets restocked now and then.
