Blockquote I assume you are from Brasil cause of the Brazilian facebook page? Do you by any chance have some Portoguese fav. tracks? I really enjoy that kinda music, but am rarely able to find anything cool by myself
Seu Jorge is probably my favorite brazillian artist, he creates a perfect mix between popular (samba, pagode and soft rock) and more gourmet music (jazz and bossa nova) and he also has an incredible voice:
There’s also a great alternative rock band here called Scalene, heavily influenced by stoner rock, post-rock and some brazillian rhytms, their last album is pretty solid, and their lyrics are generally great:
There’s also this rap band that I’ve already posted a song here, they got some interesting tracks experimenting with rap, reggae, acoustic and even chillwave, their lyrics are kinda great and lame at the same time bc each singer writes their own lyrics i think, but i guess it will not be a problem for you
(I really like this last one)
Sometimes the mainstream can be weirdly surprising here because nowadays everyone is experimenting a lot with pop, there’s not a song or artist that I find remarkable or solid enough on that category but there are definitely some interesting stuff.
Like this guy who sampled a song from Johan Sebastian Bach and put a minimalist beat on top:
(this beat somehow got really popular here, it’s called “brazillian funk”, but it is actually just a boring beat, always accompanied with ridiculous lyrics)
Or this one who mixed “Sertanejo”, with some sort of ambient-pop music:
And of course there’s also the classics: mpb, samba and bossa nova, which have some timeless masterpieces, but you probably need to understand the lyrics in order to fully appreciate it:
If you really liked it you should also check Taeko Ohnuki, she is definitely not brazillian or portuguese but some of her songs are heavily influenced by mpb and she is one of my all time favorite artists, also the whole japanese “city pop” music is pretty good!
There’s also Natalia Lafourcade, who is mexican but got a quite similar style with her acoustic pop fused with mexican rhytms:
Seems like i got too excited hehe, but I think you don’t need to worry about brazillian and portuguese music for a while
