Deal on The Mindjammer Bundle, featuring Sarah Newton's transhuman science fiction tabletop roleplaying game Mindjammer

From my Newsletter…

Through Monday, June 11 we present the Mindjammer Bundle, featuring Sarah Newton’s transhuman SFRPG Mindjammer.

Humankind first spread to the stars in great, slower-than-light colonizations taking millennia, seeding alien worlds with human life and cultures, many of which lost contact with their homeworld. Meanwhile, back on Old Earth, humankind stagnated in a high-population, benevolent, yet overly controlling utopia. Then, 200 years ago, the discovery of faster-than-light travel imbued humanity with a new, confident, optimism. People travelled to the stars to rediscover thousands of lost colony worlds – but not all these worlds welcomed rediscovery. Some had diverged beyond imagining, into different species; some were inhabited by unfathomable alien intelligences; others contained hostile cultures that viewed the New Commonality as invaders.

That’s the world you live in today. A world of conflict, yet optimism; of newness, yet great antiquity – of hyper-advanced technology, and lost colonies fallen into savagery – of great danger and great wonder: the Second Age of Space. Now every Commonality citizen is linked by neural implant to the Mindscape, a vast interstellar shared consciousness and data storage medium. You can converse by thought, and control machines, weapons, even whole starships with your mind. You can upload your memories, and download the memories of other people – even dead people. And there are artificial beings, with personalities based on the memories of long-dead starfighter pilots and war heroes – sentient starships like the near-legendary Mindjammers, which travel the spacelanes updating the Mindscape in every star system they visit.

Adapting the popular Fate Core rules as a standalone game, the 500-page Mindjammer Second Edition rulebook (2014) lets you play hardened mercs, cunning corpocrats, culture agents and memetic engineers, aliens and para-human hominids, scouts and socialites, uplifted animals, androids, and even sentient starships. Mindjammer gives you all the tools for transcendent cutting-edge space opera in the tradition of Iain M. Banks, Alistair Reynolds, Charles Stross, Ken MacLeod, and Vernor Vinge. Play in the New Commonality of Humankind, or use the complete and detailed rules set for your own transhuman science-fiction setting.

Pay just US$12.95 to get all four titles in our Starter Collection (retail value $50) as DRM-free .PDF ebooks, including the complete 500-page Mindjammer corebook (retail price $27), the space exploration adventure The City People (retail $12), the stunning Enhanced Commonality Space Schematic poster map (retail $7), and Sarah Newton’s Mindjammer - The Novel (retail $4), which we originally presented in the very first Bundle of Holding offer in the ancient past of February 2013.

And if you pay more than the threshold (average) price, which is set at $22.95 to start, you’ll level up and also get our entire Bonus Collection with four more supplements and adventures worth an additional $51: three regional/cultural sourcebooks – Core Worlds (retail $14), The Far Havens (retail $11), and Children of Orion - The Venu Soucebook (retail $14) – along with the complete campaign adventure Hearts and Minds (retail $12).

Ten percent of your payment (after gateway fees) goes to the charity chosen by Chris Birch of Modiphius Entertainment and Sarah Newton of Mindjammer Press, Vision Rescue. “Our goal is to raise US$20,000 for a Vision Rescue Bus, one of the projects the charity uses to help combat child slavery in India.”

This Mindjammer Bundle vanishes from threespace Monday, June 11."

As a person currently using the rules, I highly recommend… Transhumanism is a terrific theme for a role playing game, and can create some very interesting stories and questions for your players to think about.
