I don’t know why this is imploding on other forums. I like the idea of our betters deciding video games cause crime despite the research and analysis.

some politicians will forever be stuck in the 90’s :pensive:

Nah, most likely they do not belive there’s a correlation between crime and video games (but to be fair, who knows). It’s more likely that carjackings are a serious crime that they need to be seen taking serious, but alas the solution is rooted in economic and sosial reform that takes time to manifest.

Much quicker and easier to attack something that the majority of their constituency already have a negative view of.

We’re seeing dumb shit like this happen more and more, and it’s actually a new strain of racism in that it reinforces the divide between race instead of helping lift it through nonrestrictive inclusivity.

Soon, they’ll be preventing whites from marrying coloreds not because a white person shouldn’t marry a colored person but because a colored person shouldn’t marry a person who isn’t colored. (which has often also secretly been the case regardless actually but now it seems this is what we are openly headed to)

Black people are way bigger racists than white folk most of the time.

" i was not hired for this job because i’m black , that’s racist! " … nope , most likely you are not hired for the job because you do not fit qualifications or smth , not because you are black. But since you are , you can always pull out racism card and become a victim…

By ‘you’ i dont mean you  Just to clarify .

there definitely are racist black people, of course, but then again, history and how they were treated by whites (and still are by some) might have something to do with that as well, though of course, some are just racist cuz they’re racist, just like some white folks

lol, that would be tough to pull, given I’m 100% white :joy:

nevertheless dude, you’d be surprised how often ppl indeed are not given a job just because they’re black, or when they call to go see an apartment and it’s not obvious from their name that they’re black, and the owner is very enthusiastic, yes, it’s available, yes, you can come see it now, and then 30 min later, when they get there, the owner’s face has that look of surprise and stumbles to explain how the apartment is suddenly no longer available

there is plenty or racism and plenty of racists around, and u must understand that while a racist might hire a black person to do their lawn or be the “help”, they usually won’t hire them to be their personal secretary or bookkeeper, for example, just because of the color of their skin

I’m not saying that there is no such thing at all. I’m saying that it works both ways.

Fight me.

This “historical treatment trump card” is also pretty BS by the way. Every ethnicity in the world has enslaved and been enslaved by others and their own people throughout the ages. Colonial Britain was the first major power to decide to stop treating humans as property and start a world wide effort to have slavery abolished. Still “white people” really are consciously trying to NOT be racist, and seemingly the only ones expected to.

Though if we want to talk colonial racism, it’s the Dutch we should be focusing on. : )

perhaps that statement contains a lot

a human being should not have to try to not be racist; it should not require effort; it should be natural that other human beings are all regarded and treated the same regardless of color, and that is what racists fail to do or do not want to do

(I’m also not talking about u personally here obviously, but I think u indeed touched upon a truth here)

Racism is really quite natural, we’re all more comfortable around people who we feel commonality with. Skin colour and other phenotypical markers are the most easiest to know and react to. It’s harder to spot the other aspects of a person that would make us consider them friends, that requires getting to know that person. First impressions matter, whether we like that or not and the first impression we have of anyone we meet is always going to be influenced on their physical nature, if the meeting takes place in person of course.

We hold it as a virtue however to TRY to not “judge a book by it’s cover” all of these things are about fighting our more basic natures. However calling every instinctual bias racism is simply not fair and is directly harmful to actual inclusivity. The term racism should really be reserved for the interactions that involves malice and discrimination, it is not discriminatory to make personal decisions about the people you want to keep the company of.

If you’re looking at apartments somewhere and you have two equally good options one where you will have only neighbors that seem to be just like you and one where they’re all of one other ethnicity, no one should blame you for picking the first one.

I just read a PSA that I think was worth sharing.
Looks like there’s a new steam scam going around where compromised accounts will ask you to go to a site, link your steam account with them in order to vote on something, usually with rewards promised for doing so.

We should all really know better than to fall for shit like this, but apparently we do not.

Also seeing a lot of “You were reported prove to steam/me that you’re not a scammer or your account will be closed” scams going around. Steam support, admins or employees will not contact you through steam chat.

Should be common knowledge… not drying your cat in a microwave should also be but i guess we are expecting too much from human race.
