The best present would probably have to be the vintage pocketwatch I gave to my father. He loves it and has carried it with him for more than 20 years now, he winds it every morning, and assures me that it keeps perfect time, apparently it is already left to me in his will.

The best gift I have ever given was probably just the day itself. I wrapped all the presents for my two little brothers and hid them around the house. Then wrote clues to help them fine them. Then we had a chill Christmas morning where we had a treasure hunt. As my mom sat by the fire. Then they found all the gifts and we took turns opening them. I don’t remember what any of the gifts actually were.

As a chef i usually try out loads of local produce and food items, so my gifts are usually baskets filled with stuff i think people will enjoy that they might not have considered. But a few years ago i gave my brother a book from my fav comic strip, spurring him to end up buying the rest of the books of the author.

The best gift I have received is a PC, iirc it was in 2000, it had Pentium MMX 200 MHz CPU, 64MB of SIMM RAM, a 512KB Trident 9440 PCI GPU and a whopping 6.4GB Quantum Fireball HDD and Windows 98SE.
I overclocked the CPU to 233MHz by using the switches on the mobo, later I got a AMD K6-II 300 which I overclocked to 333MHz (yes, in socket 5/7 era, both Intel and AMD used the same socket!), upgraded the GPU VRAM to 1MB by pulling chips from a dead card and putting them into the empty slots which conveniently were on the 9440. Was so nice to go from 800x600@24bit color to 1024x768@32bit color
The Mobo and GPU are stored somewhere in my sea of for-parts boxes… I guess.
That computer came also with a TRUCKLOAD of games installed… Doom 1/2, Quake 1/2, Heretic, Hexen, NAM, Powerslave, Age of Empires… I got in love with PC gaming since.
As how I ended up here? well, I was looking for the Alienware Arena thread, I got the links for some giveaways which still had keys, I was about to leave the site but I decided to check out the entire section to look for other giveaway sites and saw a couple threads which catched my interest, so here I am, trying my luck.
