You know how you get extra copies when you buy on happy hour? People host group buys and get multiple copies for cheap and pass the savings on to others. So instead of paying $3 for a IG bundle you might pay $1.
Almost all bundles have Happy Hour
If you bought an IG bundle for the normal price before HH, you get 4 extra bundles if you buy it again during HH
(if you buy a bundle in HH and you didnt buy it before, you only get 2 bundles)
Those extra bundles are giving away, traded or people sell them in groupbuys
I all but ignore Indiegala now…not only do I think their bundles are low quality, but even when they’re not, because of the constant trash tier freebies they hand out I have an indelible association of rubbish with the games they have on offer.
Humble and Bundlestars/Fanatical are pretty much the only sites I’d consider getting bundles from these days, and even then the quality of both seem to have declined somewhat in recent months.
I think we all share that “gotta catch 'em all” approach on bargain acquisition though…you might not intend to play immediately but what if you suddenly did and had to pay some huge amount more? In the end it’s probably not a strong economic argument but it still feels like common sense nevertheless!
I have thankfully managed to withstand these temptations for a while now. Sales are so frequent now there’s really no need to jump on anything you have not actually planned on purchasing.
It’s all that Bargage, I’ve refrained from quite a few bundles from all the sites now because even though there was that one title that certainly was worth the asking price of the bundle the 5-10 other titles were such amazing shite I considered the cost of dealing with them too high to bother.
heh, if you think IG is trash (i’m not saying they aren’t tho) you should try gogo or otaku bundle, now those are somethin else… they actually make indigala offerings look magnificently outstanding by comparison… (and i’m sure there are even worse out there i haven’t seen) hail steam greenlight, and long live steam direct! -for offering us such “grand” bundles in their wake
oh my god I’ve just googled gogo and I’ve seen otakus before, I forgot they existed, I’ve never seen a more useless looking bundle, damn I thought the fanatical “stay around forever” bundles were cheap and tacky…
I think I will probably pass on that… I would rather spend my time, say, on here, or chatting with the friends I have made here, or playing games, or playing board games IRL, etc…
By the way, I use IG mostly for their store, sometimes I find a nice deal in there, way more often than a bundle from them that I wish to buy. And for their giveaways… of course, that was the real reason I have an account to begin with.
