you can grab it now
(on the store the pack is so far mislabeled as the spring pack, don’t know what’s up with that)
but you can get the episode 3 free pack this way
either go to https://steamdb.info/app/440930/ (have your steam client open/logged in/running) and click the install button, (accept steam client bootstrapper to handle request for you) and that’s it (you’ll likely get a "time out"install error, but summer pack will be added to your account)
or use win+r and paste this
steam://install/440930

also, unsure if this is actually a permanent freebie like the previous 2, given IO’s wording this time
“Note: Game access lasts for the Summer Pack period, but your saved progress will transfer to the full game when purchased.”
seen people speculate about this on their twitter announcement too
and so far, unlike the others, it doesn’t actually appear as “owned” in my store (-unlike the previous 2), despite displaying in my library as dlc,
i’ll definitely have to keep an eye on this to see if this is actually a permanent addition like before
this is normal, happens when you try to ask/use an install command for a “partial” game/pack,
since each episodes is technically dlc you can’t just install them separately/on their own without actually installing the main/base game, which would be another id to use. But it does get the gist of it and thus adds the pack content/dlc to the account requested, no worries
HITMAN™ Spring Pack - A FREE download that includes the story mission, ‘World of Tomorrow’, plus all of the Escalation Contracts, Challenge Packs and Featured Contracts released for Sapienza. The Spring Pack also allows you to play any future re-activated Elusive Targets in Sapienza.
Play for free! Ends in 2 weeks
It would be nice if game companies would stop trying to be so cryptic. Saying free to download usually means free to keep, not free to play. Especially when previous HITMAN episodes were giveaways.
Just in case it ends up actually being free, I’d register it to your account.
Interesting. Using the method @Gnuffi posted, I added the pack to my account. Instead of showing up in my DLC with the date of purchase being the date I added it (like the season 2 pack), it shows up as the original date I picked up the first season, back in 2017.
yea i’m wondering if it’s because the “wording” of the event might be different this time around?, and it’s “actually” (unlike the previous 2) just a temp freebie for all, and not a permanent freebie… ?
either way, seems weird. The whole wording, the pack being mislabeled, the dlc date being different than acc date… makes me worry it’s just a 2week temp “trial” and not a giveaway/freebie like before… or that things got screwed up a step along somewhere lol
auch… getting more and more concerned/convinced this might just be a temp (or a mixup ) https://steamdb.info/sub/287767/
seeing as how they decided to use the free weekend setting, start/expiration date, vs the “no cost” setting on the previous perma freebie
also noticed my acc addition entry got (slightly) changed/differently named too now after they updated the pack in the api/database
… wonder what’s going on this time
anyways, think i’m just gonna prep myself/assume and “brace” for it to be removed in 14days, and not have been permanently added to my account
some do (unsure if all), just the most recent i can recall was the spring cleaning event free weekend freebies
the thing that makes all of this curious about it this time tho (to me), is the account name entry getting “renamed” (first it said “HITMAN™ - Summer Pack” , like the previous 2) then after they changed/updated the pack with the free weekend setting, the name also changed to the now shown (and more legible Hitman) in account entry.
+what makes it curious, is the other time it was set as “no cost” pack, not a free weekend, since those settings usually do get “revoked” on expiry, -which just seems slightly sorta odd (if it’s perma free) -“what’s up with all that”?
could be a million things, reasons, whatever , and can’t indeed not do anything else but wait and see, it is just all a tiny bit curious this time around the way it’s played out, (imo)
