Few small giveaways [Ended]

simply because there’s no decent proof maybe? like real-time raffle or live-stream thingy… so people might think it’s possible to sabotaged due to small number of participant and it’s quite easy to just keep re-roll till you found one and post it
well giveaway is a giveaway imo, ppl shouldn’t get mad cause they didnt win cause it’s still pretty much depend on luck instead of contest
and it’s Free yay! so no biggie
still a pretty nice giveaway gl in the future mate (in case u make another giveaway :joy: )

Agreed, that is the one downfall of doing it that way. But I figure I know I have done the right thing, someone has got the prize and if others want to speculate about the legitimacy of the giveaway that is their own problem and they have every right to do it.

all you have to do is @discobot roll 1d7 (1 is how many dice are rolled 7 is the number of faces on the die) and he will respond with an answer

so i just noticed we got a bot… does this mean there’s a discord channel too ?

Chrono has a discord channel. Nexus
I don’t go there as much as I should as I prefer the forum format, but I think @KSib is your man if you want to know more about the goings on around there.

also if you want to know more about discobot you can say @discobot help and even do a short course about what he can do and you get a certificate for it!
EDIT: oops! what discobot says below

Hi! To find out what I can do, say @discobot display help.

I must say I did like this idea, not sure how or if that were possible.

Discobot does not know which member is which number on the dice right? Which would make that being recorded somewhere else. Which brings up the question, @PeteMcc how did you record your recent giveaway where members have several entries?

After the entries were closed I collated each persons entries from the PMs I received and for each entry I put their name in the list (so if someone solved all 5 puzzles I put their name on the list 5 times). Rolled a dice with the amount of sides that correspond to entries in the list using discobot and found the entry on the list that corresponded to that number (it rolled the number 20 for those who were curious).

i think we might be attributing just slightly a taaad too much to the “botness” of discobot here . And maybe also the actual “need” of something like it…
the “giver” should never really be obliged to follow X rules/methods for handling a giveaway, it’s them that are giving out after all, they should be free to do so however they might please -regardless of features or functions available, (“here there” or in the future)

indeed, “giver” manually assigns and keeps track of assigned “id’s”/nr’s of each user
discobot merely serves as a randomizer function with it’s dice roll feature, no different than if one were to use random.org or what other randomizers people use or come up with
the only “extra” purpose why some might use discobot is its public nature, so while participants might be uncertain to their “nr” (tho mostly not that hard to guess), it serves to add clear visibility about a “random draw” being fair, and that there was no “bias” or “shenanigans” -tho i’d reckon “draw bias/shenanigans” would be a remote valid concern even without discobot

discobots limited functionality is in fact why, (even tho i initially posed the idea to use discobot), i most of the time kept sticking to use random.org, because habit + simpler/less instances of “roll errors” (ex discobot can roll the same winner multiple times for the same prize/game depending on method “rolled”)

I removed all winners and the screenshots
Tbh it feels a bit too complicated for me
All the cons and the pros. I just wanted to do simple giveaway with a few leftovers. But if I got to think about all the problems I might run into it feels more like a kind of work instead of a fun thing
No offence and I am sure its not meant that way, but it kinda feels too complicated for me atm

Sorry didn’t mean to make you feel that way, as I said it’s your giveaway, run it as you want. I wouldn’t want to deter you from doing this type of thing again. It was very generous of you to do.

don’t sweat it, you do your giveaways however you wish good dinosaur :hugs:
i’ll echo pete: wouldn’t want to deter you from doing this type of thing again, it’s very generous of you!
i’m pretty sure that applies from most of us :+1:
feel free to stick around hang out and do your thing, any which way you prefer

No, we are not official and we get our keys from mugging people on the streets. Hush! Hush! It’s a secret!

J/K…It’s just a bunch of us got together and we try to make sense of the keys we have together to make a theme…or some other fun thing to have fun in the forum and make new friends. We make our own rules up in a PM discussion and it’s nice to have a few people that can make pics etc. But we are, in no way, official.

In my early days of giving awa,y I even gave away a key for someone mentioning coffee…LOL Right, @Shalandir? And I had a few BAD keys. Right, @Madway? But I tried to make it right.

I don’t feel I need to prove I gave away keys. I feel it’s up to the winners if they want to say. And if you think I am am doing something shady, It’s your right not to enter a giveaway that I am involved in.

But giving away keys is fun and I have just done it on a whim because I have a lot of keys and others have sent me keys because it was on my wishlist. You just pass it on…:hugs::star_struck:

@GlaciaVeu I’m pretty much in Discord all of the time. If you have any questions feel free to ask me, someone in the discord server, or use @Staff in the Chrono.gg discord server to ping the staff directly

sounds like black magic heresy, pray tell, what foul sorcery is this?!

someone has to teach me how to use discord “someday”,
i feel like if there is more than 3 people on it’s like trying to watch a stream with chat/while trying to pay attention to everything/all 50k “spamming” at once
seriously, how do people do that, i can barely keep my focus on one thing, how am i supposed to keep track of all that

“ahh, back in my day it was a simpler time, the pigeon would come, - 1 message at a time…” :older_man:

Oh NO! We’ve been found out!

I also don’t feel the need to let people know how we are running our giveaways and who we are giving our keys to. I have also done exactly what you have done, @delenn13, just handing out keys because they are on people’s wish lists… I have occasionally done a random Steam purchase for someone off their wishlist too. Why not, right? Of all of the things I have done so far, I haven’t had anyone come back and point a finger at me and tell the world: “Hey, this guy’s a total scam!” So I am .

I don’t use it either, feels like a chatroom basically… lol…

naa, chatrooms i could keep track of back then, they didn’t have 50,000+users, spamming single lines, or just emotes, or “bits”, and and whatnots!
-people were civilized, used words, like one had to carefully choose what to say, as if each letter costed a fortune to transport across cobber, cobbler, copper wires “tubes”… oh wait, -they did!
well, i mean, at least i could follow a conversation then/there in dem rooms… hell if i can on discord(or twitch) never catching a breath and not without almost getting a stroke
