Used to use Gimp a fair bit, but hadn’t really done any image work requiring anything advanced for a good long while up until @PeteMcc’s ARG came along which brought me to reinstall it.

Yeah I use gimp 2. It’s great, basically a free version of photoshop that is slightly clunkier to use. Made all the ARG picture puzzles with it.

I used GIMP, along with Inkscape, when I was young and couldn’t afford Photoshop/Illustrator. I briefly went back to GIMP after my version of PS became incompatible with an OS X update and Adobe switched to a subscription model. It’s a very capable PS replacement, but it’s UI has always felt outdated and awkward to me. Still, for the price (100% free) you really can’t complain.

I now use Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer in place of Photoshop and Illustrator. They cost a one-time fee of $49.99 and do pretty much everything I need to do in PS/AI. For my needs, Affinity is the perfect middle ground between the free/open source stuff and Adobe’s shit.

I still have GIMP installed on a Linux laptop though.

Allow me to demonstrate the superiority of GIMP in PNG format:

As you can imagine, it’s made with GIMP.

I’m not going to argue about Dying Light being horror or not; I for one see that there definitely is a horror-element to it. However, user tags don’t constitute proof for shit; u can add tags yrself as u want, which is why lots of kids’ games and cs go tournament packs are tagged with nudity and horror and completely unrelated tags as well.

I have literally no idea what you needed to install this sort of software for :face_with_raised_eyebrow:…maybe I have a very nonstandard puzzle solving technique, but paint is my all powerful can opener…

Heyooo I been looking to buy some good (cheap) photo software, is Affinity better or what about Luminar? Opinions? Experiences? :3

Well, I’ve bought SEUM from the coin shop… and that’s it. I feel like a terrible CHRONO member, but I’ve just had to be super stingy with what I get, and nothing has been an absolute “must have” for me.

This is how I imagine a real-life gathering of the Chrono-Community. It starts with a brief discussion about video games and which games were bought at Chrono. But a short mention of photo software is enough to start a full fleshed discussion about the best and especially why Paint is still more than enough.

If you’re looking for a replacement for Lightroom, Luminar may suffice. If you’re looking for a replacement for Photoshop, definitely go with Affinity. Luminar lacks the more advanced graphics design stuff found in Affinity Photo.

You can get a free trial of Affinity Photo and see if it meets your needs. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the link that says “free trial.” They will send you the download link via email.

I very seldom pay for software…When you can find stuff like this for free. Gizmo’s site is only one of the sites for good free software.

My first game I bought, of many…Over a year ago.

Lumini

The thing is, I never got the chance to try either :pensive: I did use the Snapseed plugins and Gimp (+ dozens of apps) but idk if affinity might overwhelm me then… On the other hand it’s cheaper than Luminar :see_no_evil:

@delenn13 def. gon try this program now, thanks for the hint

First Chrono purchase:

Best Chrono purchase:

Website I use to find great opensource software: AlternativeTo

Favorite opensource software: LibreOffice

Favorite alternative to MS Paint, which I also use to do digital art: Autodesk Sketchbook Pro. Sadly not opensource. But I have several opensource art programs on my Linux partition. (:

I can tell you that if you can’t see stereograms (magic eyes) there is a very easy way to see them using photoshop/gimp, you can find the tutorials online.

I’m always really reticent to install new software…these days there are plenty of online tools. In the case of the stereogram I tried a couple of places and in the end, despite work filtering my internet searches, that worked out fine.
